how reliable is the acerbis underseat fuel tank for the xr65
I am planning a trip around the world and would the acerbis underseat last the trip?
|
Not a direct comparison, but I have an Acerbis 4-gallon tank on my XR400.
It has survived 6+ years of heat, dust and numerous drops off-road. I think their plastic is generally of a high quality. |
in extreme use such as the paris-dakar, they fail readily. a Swede who I met in Dakar had 3 tanks for the 17 days of the rally and had to borrow someone elses to ride home! the rear tanks are fiddly and fragile plus a leak can run onto the exhaust and set the back of the bike - and rider - ablaze as Bertil found out riding back from Dakar.
I'd steer clear. the rest of their stuff is great the IMS 27 litre stretches to 29 litre in the sun and you can use an 8 litre collapsible bladder for extra range. or fit that monster 45 litre tank! |
Hi Rich,
You've mentioned these collabsible bladder tanks before. Do you have a brand name or a url for the maker? Mike |
So how about these colapsable tanks? I've heard that the bladders work from the platipus drinking system. Very, very strong, or so the adverts claim.
