how to make 12V output
Hi,
I have a honda nxr 125 bross and would like to make a 12V output, like a car lighter socket to be able to charge my camera batteries on the go. Could you pls advise how to do it and whther it is safe for the bike? thanks regards konrad |
Just wire one to the battery with an inline fuse. Secure with whatever works - zip-tie, tape, etc.
Your camera battery charging should draw very little juice. |
Centech AP-1
The above auxillary power fused panel unit can be wired in to your electrical system. It allows up to eight accessories to be plugged in, up to sixty amps. It's compact and quite durable. It can be wired to the battery with heavy gauge wire. Will not damage the existing electrical system. However, if you only need one input Lone Rider's suggestion is the way to go. This particular product can be found at www.aerostitch.com, www.touratech.com also has some similar items. Figured I'd pass it on.

Plug in the toaster
Just keep in mind that you can overload your bikes alternator. If you plug in too much stuff sooner or later you will be asking for more current than the alternator is rated for which puts it into a shorted condition causing things to fail. That said a charger for a solid state camera or cell phone draws a minimal amount and shouldn't be any problem as long as you don't forget it and leave it on all night with the engine off.
