Never buy hagon shocks
 

hEY GUYS I JUST TRAVELLING FROM ALASKA TO YSHUAIA ON HONDA AFRICA TWIN 750, THEN I BOLD A HANGON SHOCK ABOSORVER AND I JUST USE FOR ABOUT 30 MILE AND THE OIL GONE ,DONT WASTE YOUR MANOEY AND YOUR TIME NOW IM STUCK IM BRAZIL ,WIHOUT A SHOCK ,MY ORIGINAL HONDA ONE DONE MORE THAN 70 MILES,AND THIS ONE 500 ON PAVED ROAD QND 25 MILES ON GRAVEL ROAD,FOR TEHM TO FIX THEY TOLD ME I HAVE TO SEND TO UK ,I TRIEDE TO BUY A OIL SEAL FROM THEM AND THEY DIDINT SEL THOSE THINGS ,I HAVE TO SEND TO UK ,WICH WILL ME COST MORE TIME AND MONEY,BY THE WAY IF U WANNA SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY T]DONT BY THEM

pity that, i have just done the stans on one, including the whaken valley with no problems with the hagon shock

I've also had good experiences with hagon. They are pressurised so don't sell repair parts to discourage people from bodging them, which is fairly commonplace. If it was the standard road shock it's not really designed for off-road

Setting up a suspension is an art form-
One reason why I took my Dakar to Mr Wilbers's factory.
As the senior Mec. was taking the bike off the trailer, he said "there's something wrong with the front end too."
Little did I know that an aluminium barrel spacer-like device was missing from one of the stanchions.doh

It takes a lot of experience to be able to 'feel' things like that and they did a beautiful job- There is a lot more to it than just slapping on a new spring.

Maybe your Hagon wasn't set up properly?

but you'll need to call up and book your time and kit.
Expect some pain in the wallet dept but the transformation of the bike is...well can't be described-
If you want to change the handling of your bike from the dull dull dull to the awesome - that's the one modification to do first IMHO.
You'll be glad you did.
I stayed o/night in my pickup in their locked compound as it was a 2 day job.

Ahh! Was it the UK base you went to then? and if so, how much roughly did they charge on top to set your bike up?

I have just fitted a Hagon to my R80GS on the recommendation of an Africa Twin rider I met in Bangkok who had ridden from the UK with one fitted and no problems, I think you might have been unlucky Carlos, I am not surprised they do not sell spare parts, as has been stated dismantelling one can be a bit dangerous. Time will tell if mine is any good or not.

But the thing is for one up hangon is ok but for 2 ups ,no way,shock s veryyyyyyyy soft ,if u compare the original Honda shock to Hangon the quality is soo far,we have done soo far 60.000 miles 2ups on original honda on ,and now im **** with this one on 25 miles on gravel.
honda is 200 pounds more ,but is much better never go for the cheapest one.

When I got my Elefant shock from Hagon I specified that it should be for the bike plus me (65 kg) plus luggage (40 kg) and they sprung it accordingly - did you tell them it was for two-up?

Also as you've said Hagon are a relatively simple and low-cost shock, so you can't expect them to perform like a white power or ohlins unit, which would have cost twice as much.

I went to the factory in Germany and had the pleasure of meeting the Man himself who gave me a guided tour too :thumbup1:.
Wilbers quality- hard to beat for a travel bike IMHO. I got mine set up for the my weight and what I carry + a margin-

You must have been a bit unlucky mate, I had one put on my bike, also front fork springs, got them from Hanualt UK , and they were very helpful even got a good discount, and my bike was a Yam XVS1100 quite a heavy bike without any kit and a 16st lump like me on it to boot
