Forget problems!!!
I have a '95 Africa with 64000 kms on the clock. I don't think that there is something to worry about. There aren't problems at Africas!!! Of course, you should do the standard check as needed at every motorcycle.
Good luck, Ilias |

And dont worry about the seat - your arse will adapt in time. I've got 2 AT's. One at 100,000 mls -the other at 50000. Great bikes. |
fuelpump, forksprings and seat.
As far as I am concerned the AT is an absolute wonder of mecanical enginering. It has only three flaws that I can think of:
1- The fuelpump is crap. It breaks down every 50.000 km. Luckilly it is easy replaced by a better one. 2- The front fork springs are oldfashioned non progresive and weak. But again, they are easy replaced. 3- The seat. It's a torture-machine, and unfortuntly not that easy to replace. But there are way's to improve it. Mine has now done 190.000 km, mostly on horible roads, and still in perfect shape. :D Maarten |
top bike
i had a 91 model rd-04 and done 112,000m on it. the only prob i had was the rectifier blew at about 100k,even the fuel pump was original! (rare). the only other prob i had was someone stole it in october last year:( . searched for a new one but with no joy.Came across one on e-bay,2002 model with 4000 miles on clock, full service history and one owner. paid £3000 for it and am happy as un cochon dans la merde:thumbup1: .

As above the fule pump especially. The older RD04's can have problems with the wheels too.
If UK based check out Honda Trail Bike Forums - lot's of info on fuel pumps, fork springs, and seats - everything AT. :) |
