Hi
I think you will find it is there to protect the swinging arm if the chain was flap about onto it, you can just get a piece of rubber and glue it in place. |
Chain slipper.
Hi.
If you can locate some of the material used for conveyor belts this would work well as a replacement. A cobblers or shoemaker may be helpful as it tends to be used to make repairs. Good luck. Dave. |
Yes it's the chain slipper; its purpose is to keep the chain off the swinging arm, for the chain does not run free but bends up over the swinging arm from the front sprocket.
You MUST have some kind of slipper there or you'll destroy your sw/arm. For a replacement try www.david silver spares . Google it if the link doesnt work. also go to http://Honda trail bikes forums |
TopTip............ But a cheap 12" x 8" chopping board from a one of those 'dollar stores' or a chapo place at any rate..
drill 2 small holes in the swing arm or if you dont wanna drill use 'NO NAILS' or similar, cut the chopping board to size and glue/ screw on. the polycarbonate chopping boards are a pain to cut, butI use an angle grinder with a diamond tile cutter wheel...... draw shape, cut out, (t melts, and is messy,) but is tougher than anything and will protect your swingarm. good luck :thumbup1: |
It is a chain guard used to prevent wear on the swingarm.
