XR 6 - low octane fuel?
Ladies and gentlemen,
Is there any way I can increase my XR6's tolerance for low octane fuel? I'm going to Iran, you see, and I'm not sure what kind of fuel I'll have the pleasure of encountering there. Thanks for your advice and safe travels to all HUBBsters! PS: I understand that the XR6 is not the most low-octane friendly vehicle that ever rolled of a production line, but getting another bike is simply not an option... since I would have to change my name and it costs money. The way this is usually dealt with in a pinch is to use two head gaskets, which decreases your compression ratio. I have never done this, so I don't know if you'll need to do any re-jetting, but other listers like Grant can certainly tell you if that's the case.
I that's not an option, carry a couple bottles of octane booster, which might be able to get you through the trip. Wright |
