xr compression ratio q's
Does anyone know what the differences are in the engines of the xrr, xrl, xr baja that account for different compression ratios? Is it just a different head gasket thickness?
I am debating outfitting an xr250r for travel, but I am concerned with the 10.2:1 compression ratio with an air cooled engine in some parts of the world. The baja has a more conservative 9.3:1 ratio and I know that it has been used to navigate Africa and South America. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks |
If you've physically checked your bikes comp ratio - and its 10:1, you could added extra base gaskets - and make up 1mm which would lose you about 1 point from the CR, ending up with 9:1 :thumbup1:
Ideally get a packing gasket made of 1.5mm ally - easy to make! Also give a bit more life to that old cam chain :mchappy: |
