1st HU Switzerland meeting Aug 25-27 2017

We are delighted to announce that world travellers and good friends Heike and Filippo Fania have offered to host the 1st HU Switzerland Travellers Meeting from Aug 25-27, 2017.

They've found a fantastic venue with all the facilities we need in beautiful surroundings in the heart of Switzerland. There are great motorcycling roads nearby and the Alps at your doorstep, with the famous Furka, Grimsel, Susten or Klausen Pass roads only a few kilometres away.

Online registration is open now with early bird rates!

Ok I've just done my booking for this event, but when I try and pay I have trouble.
I don't have a paypal account and cant see the link to pay by card on the paypal site.
Am I able to pay my €35 on arrival?

OTRA 23 Mar 2017 21:41

Hi all

Ola James, see you over there I'm booked too, John will be there too.
One question to organizers: is it possible to go the site without using toll roads and avoid to pay road tax?
See you in August :thumbup1:

Hi James,

If you select paypal you have to keep clicking from page to page until you have to log in, and then there is a link to the credit card payment at the bottom.

Alternatively you can also pay by bank transfer. The details were in your confirmation email.

Please try these options first. And if it is still not working, we can try and find another solution. .

Looking forward to meeting you in Switzerland!

Hi Roger

yes there is a possibility - just stay away from the motorways, these are the only roads where you have to pay in Switzerland. And the backroads are much nicer anyway. I have marked a possible route here: https://www.google.ch/maps/dir/68480...b1!2b1!3e0!5i2
and here a longer but very nice and scenic route including some passes in the Alps: https://www.google.ch/maps/dir/Besan...m2!1b1!2b1!3e0

Hi Heike

Thank you for your reply, should be ok then, I've permanently removed the word "motorway" from my life since few years now.
Just gonna be a fantastic weekend.
See you there

HI,
I followed the instructions and got to the PayPal log in page and no link, I tried a number of times. Ive never had a problem when ive been booking and paying in the past for the French meeting.
I will look into the bank transfer route.
Thanks for your reply

Arma 2 Apr 2017 21:48

James, if you're going to do an international bank transfer consider using TransferWise - saves a pretty penny compared with the banks. The link below gives me invite credit and should, I think, give you something - first transfer free or something!

Ted Simon coming to Switzerland Meeting!

We are extremly excited to announce that Ted Simon is coming to the 1st HU Meeting Switzerland - check out the line up!

For a preliminary schedule click here

Please note that there might be changes!

Heike 21 Aug 2017 07:00

last information....

Ok everybody, there are only a few days are left until the 1st HU Switzerland meeting takes place – very exciting! Weather is looking good – warm and sunny, with a little chance of showers and thunderstorms. Close to the mountains it is always difficult to predict. We have over 100 registrations so far, and expect more on-site.

With this email we would like to give you some last information before the meeting:

SCHEDULE
We have an amazing program with fantastic presenters, and are particularly excited to have Ted Simon with us, who has inspired so many travellers with his books. But of course there is much more to discover. Presentations will cover all aspects of travelling by motorcycle, and all corners of the world!
Check out the detailed schedule here: Programme
There might still be changes, stuff happens, so please make sure to check again at the meeting.
All presentation summaries are also online on the event page: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/eve...itzerland-2017
And there will be one traveller finishing his trip at the HU Meeting, Chris – who will also give a presentation on Friday afternoon. He is on his way, covering the last 1000 kilometres after 4.5 years on the road right now.... Let’s give him a wonderful welcome back in his home country!

PRESENTATIONS
Will take place in the barn (“Scheune”) – so we are independent from the weather.

VENUE
Address: Gerbe, 6344 Meierskappel
The campsite should be easy to find. Check google maps: Map
We will also put up some signs on the last kilometre.

RAFFLE
We will organise a raffle (Tombola). Tickets (1 EUR / CHF) will be sold on Friday afternoon and Saturday in order to raise money for Motorcycle Outreach, an organisation that supports health care in remote villages in Indonesia. Motorcycle Outreach – healthcare needs delivery
The draw will be on Saturday evening. All revenues from the tombola will go directly to the organisation. We have already some nice prices donated by the exhibitors. If you also want to donate a price for the raffle, please bring it along (please only bring new or unused stuff!), e.g. that pair of new motorcycle gloves that you bought too small, and they are still laying around.... Maybe somebody will be very happy to have them!

REGISTRATION
Registration opens on Friday after lunch. Camping is reserved but not included in the registration fee. You have to pay camping fees upon arrival at the registration desk, where you will also get your wristband and sticker, and where you can become the owner of one of the beautiful HU Meeting t-shirts.

ARRIVAL
We will be there already on Thursday, please feel free to join us – but there won’t be any official programme that day. If the registration is closed and nobody is around, just pick a site, and come to the registration desk later.

FOOD
Lunch will be served by the campsite owners on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Dinner on Friday and Saturday. They will sell local meat and sausages from the grill, salads, and also risotto for the vegetarians (please sign up for risotto at the registration in advance). Breakfast can be ordered on the registration desk on the day before. Two options are available.
Supermarkets are nearby (max. 2 km), and the campsite also has a small shop selling local farm products.

MONEY
We will accept both Swiss Francs and Euro, but we won’t be able to change money. Not sure about the campsite, and whether they accept Euros. ATM machines are nearby.

Have a safe trip – we are looking forward to seeing you all very soon! :scooter: :scooter:
