Go West: when the west turned red “Ducati” - Valentina Bertelli
No matters what: whether it's out of curiosity, boredom or simple restlessness… Travelling to me is essential. Doing it on my bike is vital. On my own, often, necessary. I do like adventure, exploration and sometimes even gambling! I got on two wheels very late, but since then I never got off! I’ve been wandering on my Ducati999 (the “Culonarossa” which means “the Redbigbutt” because of the exhaust on the back) for some years, not caring of all those people saying that I can’t make it, just because that bike wasn’t made for touring (or since it’s not a “girlbike”). But one goes where the other one goes so we became a whole and challenging the limits of a superbike we started travelling, waiting for our "dream trip"! In September I left again, toward the Iberian peninsula. It was meant to be a slow, lonely and cathartic journey, which I wanted to last as long as possible. Living in fits and starts watching the time fly. Weeks passing by till I went face to face with a hurdle: an empty car, with no handbreak hit us and forced to a stop. It’s not a joke, too! It wasn’t luckily that bad, but for sure wasn’t it ironic? Such as that day I found myself up laughing with a Bulgarian prostitute who watched over my bike till I ended up my tour or when I almost burnt the Ducati, because a sweatshirt had slipped on the exhaust. Or… when I trespassed a military zone because I couldn’t make a U-turn before! Well. You can’t say a trip is a trip unless you get into some troubles: those are like scars that will last in your mind forever (hoping for nothing serious tho)! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...48b6d321_z.jpgIMG_20180928_161236-001 by alex foley, su Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...d21a50c1_z.jpgIMG_20180919_094011-001 by alex foley, su Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...95100d80_z.jpgIMG_20181004_191341-001 by alex foley, su Flickr |
On the 24th of March 2019, Andrea Bortolotto left for a 5 months trip: his aim was to explore 25 countries and ride 25k kilometres between Europe and Morocco.
Even if that was the journey he had so long dreamed of, leaving home and everything behind has not been easy. But sadness and worry did not last long, because the excitement for his brand new adventure was stronger than fear. In Morocco he cried and laughed, in Spain, he had a lot of fun, Normandy even moved him… and everywhere he went, he met special people that made him feel at home. Now he’s in Poland, and his adventure is almost at the end. :mchappy::mchappy::mchappy: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...41769a6f_z.jpgWhatsApp Image 2019-06-13 at 09.44.53-001 by alex foley, su Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...139c1508_z.jpgWhatsApp Image 2019-06-05 at 12.28.27-001 by alex foley, su Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...14a40862_z.jpgbortolotto (1)-001 by alex foley, su Flickr |
Visit Taiwan with bike, it's possible!
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...5ddcdd66_z.jpgGerard SAOUTER by alex foley, su Flickr I'm Gérard, and as a happy pensioner and intensive traveller, I'm exploring one by one the destinations other people have inspired me to visit. With no logic, and no continuity among my journeys, one can find me in June on the Pamir Highway and in October in the Namibian desert. I’m happy as long as I'm riding a bike, be it rented, bought locally or my own GS. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4fa587bc_z.jpgGerard SAOUTER by alex foley, su Flickr It all begins...in Zimbabwe, where I happen to meet Claire, a lonely traveller from Taïwan, who came there like me to admire Victoria falls ; she's hiking, I'm riding a bike, we exchage e-mails and I tell her that I'll be visiting her island for two weeks at Chinese New Year time. She tries to talk me out of it, arguing that it is not the right timing...but unsuccessfully. In this surprising and endearing island, this trip in terra incognita dives the foreign explorers in a mix of modernity and tradition, a hybrid between China and Japan. This is what I'll be trying to play back to you. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...44b83bbe_z.jpgGerard SAOUTER by alex foley, su Flickr |
Michele Squeri has travelled far and wide, an during his adventures with his Ape or his bicycle he always found time to shot some beautiful pictures. During #HuItaly he will share with is his tricks, hosting a workshop focused on travel photography and sharing his experience.

During a long-term adventure, or just on a holiday on two wheels, being independent is the key, even with food. Carrying with you all the stuff you need to organize your meals is a huge pro if you’re looking to write off expenses, or if you’re just interested in keeping a healthy diet. What do you really need, in order to arrange the perfect travel kitchen? During the workshop, we will extensively discuss this topic - from pots to stoves - and share some important tips. In order to keep travelling light, and in complete autonomy.

A journey is not just defined by the amount of kilometres you cover or the places you visit, and Alberto Seligardi knows it very well. During his adventure through Albania, Greece and Bulgaria he understood that the most important things are the people you meet, what you feel, and the cultural differences you encounter. And, after all, if you have problems with your bike is not a big deal: that could be the chance to meet new people and to grow.
What did he learn during his trip? That people are nice, especially when you encounter difficulties. And he should have brought more underwear. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...cd7b4172_z.jpgIMG_20190715_164958940 by alex foley, su Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...619a1b43_z.jpgIMG_20190610_113105887 by alex foley, su Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...854def99_z.jpgIMG_20190712_155519952_HDR by alex foley, su Flickr |
"Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to that”. Luca’s history is about the redemption adventure that he undertook when he was hopeless, thinking that the accident would have affected my life forever.
The aim of the “407 Grand European Tour” adventure was to show ourselves that the problem’s entity always depends on the way we face that problem… and to prove that motorbike can be an important rebirth tool. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...657e5f00_z.jpgWhatsApp Image 2019-07-15 at 11.48.21-001 by alex foley, su Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...43056669_z.jpg31389068_173755573325848_5035359644252372992_n by alex foley, su Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4d0a745a_z.jpg31949262_176169303084475_1377957381232656384_n-001 by alex foley, su Flickr |
Passport, Visas, International Driving Licence, Carnet de Passages, insurance… when you exit European Union – or you are organizing an international trip – bureaucracy and papers could seem a huge obstacle. But every doubt will be sorted, during this workshop, and Matteo will share his travel experience in order to make document- related things smooth and easy.

Also this year there will be Miriam Orlandi who will share her experience with us.

Matteo Nanni has always dreamt to travel, even when he was a kid: that’s why, in 2004, he left for a backpacking adventure around India and Nepal. In 2011 he bought an old Honda Transalp motorbike and started exploring the world on two wheels. Till the autumn of 2018, when he left for his biggest adventure ever: a 7 months solo motorbike journey, from Italy to Indonesia.

Thank you to Chama and Alessandro and also La Bionda Sulla Honda(who was kept by Mickey Mouse in Paris) , last year edition was perfect and I thought it should be difficult to make another one as better, but you did!! It was even better ... The quality of the presentations and the scenery of the site were perfect, but this year was also more tasty, and when I say tasty I really mean it, the fantastic couple of chefs Rossana and Frederico who overfeed us with great quality meals have also participated to that success... Thank you all... Hope to see you next year... Salute!! bier
