2017 HUMM Canadian Monashees in BC!
HUMM Monashees 2017! Following on the amazing launch of our first ever HUMM in Canada in July, we are thrilled to announce the 2nd Canadian HUMM. For 2017, we've moved a little further west in Beautiful British Columbia, to make it easier for the wet coasters to participate!
What's a HUMM? It's 2 DAYS of 100% pure off-road adventure navigation challenges for teams of 2-4 riders. Whether you're new to off-road riding or a trail ninja, HUMMs let you and your team choose your adventure... See the HUMM trailer for a taster. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1rN8l_mgJc What and where are the Monashees, you say? The Monashees are a 400-km-long range in southern BC. Known to hikers and heli-skiers for some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, the Monashees are relatively unknown as an off-road riding destination. We aim to change that! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/eve...017-3-1000.jpg All the details here: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/eve...monashees-2017 Registration is open now, early bird rates until Dec 31! TO NOTE: Numbers are strictly limited to ensure the best wilderness experience for all. We're expanding in 2017: CANADA + USA + SPAIN. We've got more HUMM updates coming your way! Stay tuned for info about all the events and more. |
HUMM Monashees - why the move?
In response to some questions we've had, we thought we should clarify why are we moving. Although the riding around Invermere was amazing, the facilities available in the Nakusp area are much better, including actual shaded campsites with facilities (vs a gravel parking lot!), numerous hotels and bed & breakfasts to suit every budget, lots of restaurants etc.
Panorama was proposing a large increase in our venue and catering costs for 2017. We needed to reduce the costs in order to keep the event price at the same level as for 2016. We also hope to make the event more accessible for riders from the west. Who's making it happen? Grant personally did the initial recce for several days to confirm the awesome off-road riding and spectacular scenery and set out a number of tag points. He'll be back in the area in the spring to check out the trails. We are working with the Arrow Lakes (Nakusp) ATV Club, who have the local knowledge to find the fantastic off-road riding areas around Nakusp. They're very excited to be involved and have already done a great job finding points. The club will also be providing the support teams at the event itself. The Monashees are relatively unknown as an off-road riding destination. We aim to change that, and we hope you'll all join us! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/eve...017-5-1000.jpg |
I'm so excited you're bringing this event to my area! Hopefully I'll be able to participate this year, broken ankle kept me out of the Invermere HUMM.

Here before you know it
REMINDER: Early bird pricing goes up on January 1st, 2017.
HUMM Monashees info & registration We were pretty lucky for the inaugural HUMM with going through the wait list a couple of times. Wouldn't want anyone to push their luck and rely on that happening again next year. Many people couldn't make it out (hope that Terry Flamond's ankle is all better by then!), some had other commitments, some just waited too long, so it might be a good idea to avoid the rush and risk missing your spot. I do know that the Arrow Lakes ATV Club is hardcore! They've placed almost all the checkpoints just before winter settled in. Apparently, they've got some rad Level 5 spots waiting to be tagged next spring... it's too snowy/icy to reach them now. Got your teams together? Remember to sign up solo if you want us to match you up. |
Rent a bike?
Hi!
Will it be possible to rent a bike for the event? Question from across the pond :innocent: |
Bike Rentals
Hi Andreas, for 2018 you will be able to rent bikes in Calgary! Details when we open registration!

HUMM Monashees Event report and Map Multis Class results!
The Second Annual HUMM in British Columbia is over - you missed it!
But we're already working on next years event, and will let everyone know as soon as we have everything done. This years event was a tremendous success according to all the participants, evidenced by huge smiles and very dirty faces! One of our favourite comments was from Cory Hanson: "Had a blast at HUMM, this was some of the best riding I've done ever!" and another: "Did one of the gnarliest rocky hill climbs I've encountered..." and others: "...great trails, wide choice of difficulty made it great fun, we didn't have to ride the hard stuff if we didn't want to!" "points were no hassle to find once we had the right spot!" "couldn't believe how good the scenery was..." and finally from Charlie Pearce on Facebook, (click the link for his album from the event - he is also riding the HUMM Appalachians next weekend!): "Thank you, Grant Johnson, Susan & the Team behind HUMM. What a brilliant weekend of off road riding it must be topping one if (not) the best 48 hrs. ever (sorry wifey Linda Pearce) The whole event was well organized, worry free No Pressure Fun Fun Fun off road bikers dream...I can't say it enough EXCELLENT EVENT" Big thanks to the Arrow Lakes ATV Club for laying out the points, providing outstanding medical and recovery support (they were out on Saturday until 10 pm!) and for scoring. Kathy Bone was a huge help with registration and paperwork. Behind the scenes, Grace Cho organized the Spot trackers to help keep the teams safe, among many other tasks. We literally could not have done this event without all their help! Finally, thanks to Touratech and Spot for their support! The event was CMA and FIM Sanctioned this year, and the representative from the FIM, Nuno Leite, all the way from Portugal for the event, was very impressed with everything, so we're super pleased!
