What a great time I had at the meetup in Mattole. A better bunch of people and finer roads are hard to come by. Cheers to all who attended.

I recognize the need for a change in venue if too few people choose to attend. It's just that... In my mind The Lost Coast is the perfect place to hold the California meeting, a true destination well off the grid of normal everyday life.

Sigh, hopefully if there's a change of venue it'll prove to be similarly wonderful. Regardless, I'll likely still attend.

Argh, I tried to make it. The DMV put a hold on registering my bike that took 2 days with 3 DMV visits, and 18 phone calls to get them to fix their mistake. I ended up just tagging along with a friend for a ride in her car to Baja California instead.

I just got back. If I was back a day earlier, I'd be riding to Colorado for that event.

Ah, I see SOMEBODY was paying attention to Grant's presentation about taking good pictures! Very nice, Mark! That "mountains beyond mountains" shot (#13 of 16) is particularly awesome.

Love the "essential fluids" shot, Carla! Is the correct order wine, Pennzoil, Sierra Nevada, or is it important to fit in a shot of antifreeze to cleanse the palate?

We should come up with a good tribal tattoo design so we can all get drunk and get some ink. Alternatively, we could just get Mohawk haircuts (or helmet hair for old guys like me whose wives won't stand for such hooligan behavior).

And I'm going to see if there are any practical possibilities in the Santa Cruz hills south of San Francisco, which would also likely result in better attendance due to the large nearby population with tons of riders. I sure did enjoy the Lost Coast, which I had never been to before, but I understand that Grant and Susan need more people to show up in order to cover the cost.

I wouldn't complain, however, if the event were anywhere near San Luis Obispo! I love the SLO-town area, and it is very well situated between the two largest population centers in California yet far enough away from both.

Seems to me that you don't need to attend a "how to" session on photo composition. You've got it down, man!

How about a mini meeting on the Lost Coast. It is just such great riding and scenary there. Thanks too all for a great meeting

SideStand Up I'm on Tuesday 8/31 from 5:05 - 5:25 to talk about the HU Lost Coast meeting on the show. Please join the chat room if you want to contribute your impressions or ask questions. I'll just be giving my impressions.

A big thank you to all that attended the meeting and to all the presenters with out you there is no meeting.

We are in need of a new place to hold the meeting. Some place with a bigger draw. We need A building that can hold 100 to 200 people, Camping there, hotel near, food, bathrooms and if at all possible showers. On top of that minor things for presenting, screen, sound system, power.

The meeting are adaptable and have been held in pubs, campgrounds, meeting rooms and even back yards.

I am not local to California so we are looking to all of you to find a spot.

We're contemplating a mini-meeting in Petrolia and a full meeting farther south, e.g. Pasa Robles "area" for next year.

The hard part of a mini for Petrolia is the cost of the venue - it ain't cheap, and mini's are supposed to be no charge - so that's a problem that can only be dealt with by charging something!

Any thoughts and ideas appreciated.

We'll keep you posted!
