If you haven't been to Nakusp, you owe it to yourself to go - the scenery is spectacular, the riding is amazing, (you WILL see wild animals from the road), the town is friendly and we can guarantee a great time!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Full details and Registration are open now!

Check out the great pics that Onno, Mark and Lori have put up from the Canwest 2014 event:

first timer

We're registering for the Nakusp gathering and it's our first Horizons Unlimited event. Woohoo! We're trying to decide whether or not to sign up for all the meals. Any hot tips to share? Thank you!

roger2002 16 Feb 2015 03:58

Buy the meals! There isn't a lot of other choice within easy walking distance and the food is good. The price is great too. If you want to come and go, there are other choices but if you want to get the full experience, you won't regret the included meals. My 2 cents...

vroom-vroom 16 Feb 2015 15:40

Thank you so much! We definitely want the full experience so we'll get the meals. :)

There's a small pizza/german restaurant within easy walking distance from the site on main street, great food, i usually do lunch there, well worth it.

Saw this place last year at the BMW Rally the week after HU rally... never went in.... I'll have to give it a go now !!

Done the BC BMW Rally at the same campground however never the HU Gathering - looking forward to it !!

Yeah, might be nice to have a "local" to share the ride. We'll stay in touch and hopefully meet in Naksup.

We will be travelling in Canada and USA in summer '15 (from UK) and with a bit of luck we should be in this area at this time. All being well we will see some of you there. bier

Canada Travel License Insurance ?

Do I need any special license or insurance to travel in Canada?

Cadwallader 27 Jul 2015 18:41

I came last year and it was just great, but I missed a day there. This time I'm coming for the whole thing. :)

I'll be motorbiking from Vancouver on Thursday, If anybody wants to join, they're welcome. ;)

Also, I have an extra seat for my F650GS. It's the low seat for shorter riders, excellent shape, came with the bike when I bought it and I have no use for it since I have the normal sized one as well. If anyone is interested, I could bring it to the meeting and sell it there, or exchange for other parts for the F650GS... Let me know.

Not sure if anyone responded to you yet....as an American your drivers license will allow you to drive in Canada as well. As far as insurance for your bike/car, check with your insurance company. Mine covers me in the USA (where I live) and in Canada as well without needing anything special. Have a great trip!

I am riding from Langley to Nakusp, probably leaving Thursday AM early but not sure of exact departure details or routes yet but could meet up somewhere on the way.

email me at davidb@citiloc.com if you want to arrange a time to meet-up to ride together.

Numerous road closures in both WA and BC due to forest fires.

Nice interactive map showing most of the fires in eastern WA and BC.
Interactive map | Canadian Wildland Fire Information System | Natural Resources Canada

Current closures in BC. We were going to take the scenic route via 33, may have to change our plans.

DriveBC All Events

If you are heading up US 97 through Wenatchee, the Reach Complex of fires in Chelan are still going strong. 97 MIGHT close again. And the detour through Waterville and Bridgeport may close as well, as the eastern front of the fire is still out of control. Its been a real ugly week for us here.

Ride safe everyone!

Thanks for the heads up on this, I like the link you posted.

I'm leaving Thursday AM and will ride with Cadwallader, we will go through Kelowna/Vernon and stay north of the fires, looks like Hwy 3 maybe closed.

Ride safe and see you all in a few days.

WOW what a great event

Thanks to all who helped host this event, I must say I have never attended an event where the majority of people were just so darn amazing, so friendly and helpful at all times.

Great presenters, good food, great company and I made some new friends, doesn't get much better than that.

This is what I got to wake up to each day, view from my tent.
