UPDATE:

We know you are wondering whether Horizons Unlimited events are going ahead as planned, and how that may affect your own travel decisions. Your health and well-being are our top priorities, so please take care of yourself and your family.

We are working with our local organising teams and event venues, and monitoring regional and global developments, including travel bans and restrictions on events. Decisions will be made together with the local organising team and announced as far in advance as possible.

We are also aware that the HU demographic skews a wee bit older, and our deepest wish is that your well-being remains intact. We also are very aware that the small communities our events are held in have very limited medical resources, and we don't want to bring the virus to them with a large group of people from all over the world.

The Fairgrounds in Mariposa has cancelled their own event, and is expecting NO events in 2020, or certainly no larger than 50 people at most - IF restrictions ease.

Therefore, we have POSTPONED to September 23-26, 2021.

This may change, so stay in touch through this HUBB thread or social media. We will be providing updates on the 1st and 15th of every month, as best we can. Stay updated here: https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/covid

Please direct your questions to: events-c *at* horizonsunlimited.com

Or post general comments of interest to the event on this thread.

If you want to keep your registration to the new date, we will carry it forward for you. No need to do anything. Carrying your registration forward will help us out a LOT. Thanks!

For refunds, PLEASE REPLY to your original Registration Confirmation email to make it easier for us to find.

We will send emails announcing changes only to everyone already registered for an event with all needed details.

Thanks for your understanding in this difficult time.

Positive outcomes grow from staying true to what makes the global HU community special: inspiration, information, and connection through shared experiences, tolerance, and mutual kindness. Please continue to listen to and follow the advice of your local and national health authorities. Stay healthy so that we can all catch up later.

Remember that worrying does lower your immune system, so don't binge on news. And most importantly - take care of yourself and your loved ones!

HU California postponed to Apr 14-17 2022

Hi everyone,

We're very sorry to have to write this, we really, really wanted this event to happen, as we're sure you did too. We kept hoping things would improve on the Covid-19 front, and the forest fire/smoke front, but neither has gone in the direction we hoped. The latest news is depressing.

Although the Covid vaccination rate has improved, case numbers are rising everywhere, and the clear start of a 4th wave has resulted in California reimposing mask restrictions in many areas, and likely more to come.

Arguably forest fires are now a bigger concern - to attendees en route to the event and the health risk everywhere from smoke. Unfortunately, the fire situation looks likely to get worse before it gets better.

A big part of our COVID-19 safety plan was to hold as many activities outdoors as possible, open the doors for better ventilation, etc. However, this is the exact opposite of what is required to deal with smoky conditions - stay indoors with windows closed, avoid exertion and outdoor activities!

This is all exacerbated by the extreme heat! :(

In the end it comes down to health - yours, ours and the local community's. We aren't confident we can make this event a safe and fun experience for us all, so we've decided to cancel 2021 and we've booked California 2022 for Apr 14-17. We're advised by locals that the weather should be very good, we are confident that we can avoid fire and smoke, and we hope that COVID-19 will be manageable by then.

We appreciate that some of you will have made travel arrangements and incurred other costs, and we hope that you can change those plans.

What about my event registration?

If you want to keep your registration to the new date, we will carry it forward for you. No need to do anything. Many of you will be aware that the income from events helps to fund the website hosting and other fixed costs of keeping Horizons Unlimited going. Carrying your registration forward will help us out a LOT. Thanks!

If you need a refund, we will provide it as soon as possible, but please be patient. For refunds, PLEASE REPLY to your original Registration Confirmation email to make it easier for us to find, or if you can't do that, please email a request to: events-c {a] horizonsunlimited.com
