HU MTG - 2007 Colorado
Many thanks to Jeremiah St. Ours, Ginger, Grant, and all the various volunteers and general hang abouts who made the 2007 Colorado HU meet a great success. Great location...great weather - had a little bit of everything just to keep us all on our toes...and a lot of great folks - some RTW'ers just starting, some finished, and some well along into it... and lots of locals from up and down the western continent. The Silverton area has lots of great pavement and dirt jeep/trail riding and if yourt throw in a crash or two (can you say new BMW GX 650...well it isn't anymore) and at least one person who got a face full of gasoline (courtesy of an evil KTM and a series of volunteer mechanics) and you've got the recipe for a great meeting....well done everyone....

VERY worthwhile!
As someone who has always owned road bikes but wasn't sure if the RTW thing was for me the HU meeting was GREAT! Wonderful people, facilities, planning, information, area, and a fairly local dealer (60 miles) from whom I was able to rent a new KLR from. What a blast! Thank you to all who made it possible. If any of you who were there pass through the Milwaukee area please contact me!

Thanks to everyone involved in the hard work of making the riders meeting go. After getting in late thursday I was awakened by some true crazies....people leaving on a 100 mile trail running race over two days. Great area of colorado and if some of you didn't make it you should have. Thanks to the guys from mexico for the coffe in the morning.

Silverton Hu Meeting
Just wanted to say .....best meeting I've been to and I've been to 3 !
Great organization , presentations and weather ! Thanks Grant , Jerimiah and Ginger:clap: |
Glad to hear some positive feedback
Putting on an HU travelers meeting requires a lot more work than most people realize, especially during the first year of a new venue. I think the volunteers, the caterer, and the town of Silverton deserve our thanks.
On a related note, one Silverton HU meeting aspirant didn't make it. He crashed his KLR650 on Cinnamon Pass enroute to the meeting and never showed up. Two of our riders who came upon his bike after he was jeep-lifted to the hospital removed his GPS for safe-keeping, and gave it to me. So, if that rider wants to email me and identify himself, I can mail his GPS back to him. Jeremiah |
Thanks from me and Sonee, too.
My Norton has been having problems with California gas (the fiberglass tank sealant showed up after I left) and the el cheapo Honda CX500 died a few blocks from my house. So once again, another Colorado HU meet in my beat up truck. --Dave Oh yeah, Jim! Message me so I can buy your old GPS. I don't have your email. |

They really put the UK venue "into the shade". You must be a few thousand feet above sea level at that HU meeting!! |
Getting high at the HU meeting
The meeting in silverado was held at about 9200 feet above sea level. What is that...3K meters or so. then it was a short ride to 4K meters. Somebody out there has some good photos I just had a disposible camera. You should have seen the stars at night!

3000m

Superb! Now that's what I call a meeting venue! Pics can be posted onto this webpage for the meetings I believe so, for those who were there, how about posting a few? Yes, that is about 3000m or near enough - great altitude for a base camp and then on upward! |
