Thailand 2009
Do we have any details on the Thailand meeting? We might be in the vicinity.
|
Haven't heard anything so far. One of the last times I spoke with Bob (before he went back to the US for his summer holidays) I asked him about it and he didn't seem to have any plans to repeat last year's mini-meeting. I might be wrong, but I suspect that there is just not enough people around here who are interested in global bike travelling. I guess the majority of GT-Riders is mostly interested in riding in Thailand, and those who do cross the border, usually limit their trips to Laos, Cambodia or Malaysia.
There's nothing stopping you from organizing a HU meeting, is there? :palm::thumbup1: BTW, how is the new KLX250 riding? Did you brake in the engine the 'fast way'? :mchappy: |
Click on the link in the top left corner of the page: 19 Jan 2009 confirmed. Not a mini, either. That's why I'm asking. Since we will be on the road it could be a little difficult for me to organise, unless I use Bob's solution: book a table @ Khao Mao Kao Fang restaurant and tell everybody to just turn up. I'm not even sure we will be in the area then.
Su has the KLX and it's near Bang Pa-in while I'm still in the process of packing up here in Mae Sot. She has ridden it once and has fallen in love with it. (Not sure where that leaves me...) Her comment: it's too light when passing trucks (!), gets buffeted too much. I'll fix that with a part of my 60-odd kg of luggage. :mchappy: Who are you on GTR? Cheers, Peter. |
Hi Peter,

So where is the 'long trip' taking you next? Quote:
So in case you happen to come to CNX before you leave Thailand, and you care about getting together, let's meet somewhere for lunch/dinner/drinks somewhere in CNX. Just PM me on GT-R or on HU or ADVR (I have the same username on these 3 forums). |
Looks like I'll have to ask Grant, then. I also asked on GTR, but no reply. Looks like it's a well-kept secret.
I found the same problem at the meeting. Not that it is anbody's fault, that just how restaurants work, I guess, although some people did move around a little. Next destinations will be Cambo, Laos, No Thailand, then down to Malaysia, Indo, Timor Leste, Oz (Although I doubt Su will be able to get a tourist visa), then NZ. No plan at all after that. We'd love to meet other bikers. Will be in touch closer to the time. Cheers, Peter. |
