Left my bike in PERU over visa date
Hello!!
I was riding a bike I purchased in Bolivia inton peru where i had to leave for business. It has been there for 4 months past the date required to leave. I want to ride it up to ecuador from where it is right now but im not sure if this is possible due to Fees of overstaying. What will they fine me? Thank you!!!!:oops2: |
It is now property of the Peruvian government......
guessing by the date of the post you already found that out. |
Yes it is a problem. But in past Peru confiscated the bikes. Now they give you a hefty fine. But it also depends on the customs of people. Some still insist the bike must be confiscated.
If you talk nicely I am sure you will just get a fine |
Wasn't there recently a thread about the exact same thing? Somebody got a shorter date on his TIP than his visa and didn't spot it. Up to a month they fine you and over a month they take the bike. When he came to leave that's what happened. Despite trying everything he lost a $14,000 BMW.

Itchy Boots has had to leave her RE Himalayan in Peru as she has been flown back to the Netherlands due to Covid-19. She was able to suspend her TIP (I assume it was for 90 days duration) due to the virus - I was wondering whether this was an option for other people at other times. For the OP I suspect that this is not too helpful, sorry.

Itchy Boots is now in the process of getting her Himalayan freighted back to the Netherlands as she wasn’t going to b eating back to it anytime soon.
