Ace Cafe Overland Adventure Day Feb 20th 2011
Having missed the 2010 event and only today read through most of the thread thinking I was reading about the 2011 event I figured it was time to ask the question. Who is planning to be at the Ace Cafe on Sunday 20th Feb 2011?
|
We will! :D
Look for a Blue Versys next to a cool Aprilia Shiver! |
I will be there as well with my trusty travel companion - and I'll bring my wonderful personal mechanic, too, in case you have any questions about the modifications...

I'll be there...
I'll be there on my 650 DAKAR, now with a silver beak and home grown tail...
|
I am intending to turn up, just waiting to see if leave has been granted for it save me rushing to get back home to start work.
I know a number of people from the Adventure Bike Rider Forum are going & suspect some of you are like me on a number of forums, as well I will be on a red Bandit 1250 Hopefully see you all there |
Really looking forward to this once again.:thumbup1: Oh and i'll be riding my red/white Kawasaki Tengai.
|
I will be there.
K plate, turquiose and white R100 GSPD....with an ugly bloke riding it. |
Birgit and I will be there too. Looking forward to it. Think Mark Manley, Dave Pape, Mon Pape, Elspeth Beard and Paul Blezard are coming too. And I think that some of the guys from SE Biker magazine will be there.
See you then : ) |
I will be there.

The day in pictures -
Possu already tucked into his (second...) breakfast, while Strobingred was still wondering if his jacket could bear the strain... http://www.ukgser.com/forums/images/smilies/augie.gif http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...83_WWqsX-L.jpg GreatScott with his pride and joy http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...96_sXYeU-L.jpg From left to right: Seasoned RTW traveller Mark Manley introduced me to Alun Davies, publisher of Adventure Bike Rider, and Lancastermick presented his friend who's doing lots of endurance stuff but whose name escapes me right now, sorry... http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...97_QobbK-L.jpg On the right we have SE Rider Chris - without Erika this time who didn't get her priorities right today (apparently she had to work... http://65.38.186.190/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif) http://possu.smugmug.com/Motorcycles...62_pfXyk-L.jpg Buying some more bling, Strobingred? Hi Ela, love the pic of Joy, Pete and myself:thumbup1:. Really enjoyed our chat and look forward to catching up again at the HU Travellers meet in June. Oh, and thanks for the heads up regarding the spare fuel tank:biggrin3:.
Had a great day and, despite the cold, was probably the best attended Adventure Day so far. |

It could be this guy who was with Nick Sanders' Timbuctou group in Jan 2008--photo taken in Nouakchott, Mauritania. Made me laugh to see the scooter alongside all the TT-equipped GS bikes. |
Great day out and always good to find reasons to get the VStrom out of the garage in February. Keen daughter jumped on the back and enjoyed all aspects of the day apart from the cold.
Great chatting to lots of people although rarely seemed to put 2 and 2 together and connect faces to user names on the HUBB. Day went really well until arriving home when good friend Leighton invited me to take his brand new 1200 GS out for a quick spin. It was very smooth and such a delight to ride after a day in the Strom saddle that I can feel the bank manager getting worried already. Top Tip - if you dont want to give in and join the GS brigade on principal then DO NOT RIDE ONE (cos they are really really nice) :oops2: |
I missed out on this one as I'm a newbie on here. Is there another planned at the Ace?
Cheers Steve |
