Anyone up for a mini meeting in North Wales ?
 

There are some really nice campsites in the beautiful Snowdonian National Park in North Wales.

I've stayed in a few of them over the years while hiking. You have to pay but they do have showers etc and usually a short ride or 10 min walk from a small shop and pub !!

Anyone fancy an overland get together one weekend over the summer ?? (probably July)

I've not got any details yet, but If I can get an idea of numbers, I could phone the sites and try to arrange a group discount or a private corner of the site etc...

Who knows.............

Great idea Ted, only problem is July hosts the HUMM and Pyreknees-up events in Spain, so thats means its time for 'Fun an Sun':thumbup1: :scooter::Beach:

I'm in north wales so no problem. Count me in if I'm not out and about (nothing set as of yet btw).

Definitely up for this depending on final choice of dates.

Have a look at Nant Col Falls Campsite. Not much by way of facilities (although they are developing them unfortunately, but that's more than made up for by the location and the fact that they allow (even encourage) you to have open fires....they sell you bags of logs at £3.50 a ago.

It's about a mile inland from Llanbedr, between Barmouth and Harlech. I'll check out the exact GR when I get home later.

Sounds great, even if I'm working that weekend I'm sure I could get up for a bit only being halfway down Gods own country.

Yo fella count me in anytime. I do have the ripley meeting June, scotland in July, Tedstock in August and Portugal and the Spain meet in September. I am sure I could squeeze a night in there somewhere! Oh and I almost forgot Gastanbury somewhere in between.......

Im up for that, am also in north wales. I use a campsite in dolwyddelan 'Tynalderoch' usually quite quiet.
Got toilets, take animals, no showers, can have fires and its right by the river, family site..
Might be able to arrange to get us the 'Naughty corner as my cousins fella does the maintainance on the land..
Is on the A470 and easy access to the A5, & Betws Y Coed.. but the nearest pub is a few miles either way.

It's certainly a very nice part of the country, but if you want a few more trails (and to be a bit closer to the rest of civilisation), plus decent loo/shower facilities etc - you could also try here?:

I stayed there with a bunch of trail riding friends last September - they have a dedicated camping field, a nice spot in a valley by a river (but not too close to the water for midges etc) and is close to some corking 'big bike' trails - Wayfairers etc. and some lovely road riding over towards Bala and Lake Vyrnwy too...

I can vouch for Nant Col Falls Campsite (I was fortunate enough to live and work in that part of the world not so long ago, beautiful setting and a decent Pub in Llanbedr.

The one at Glyn Ceiriog is a great spot also (about 10 mins from where I live now oddly enough). Easy access but not as scenic or rural as Nant Col IMHO.

Well, I went down to Nant Col and stayed Friday night.

It pissed down and blew a gale but it didn't deter from the beautiful scenery and a really nice " out of the way" site.

I had a word with the owner and asked him about the chance of 10-15 bikers descending on his site.

He didn't seem overly keen as he's trying to keep the place family orientated but after assurance that we are all well behaved traveler types, he was ok with it as long as we kept the number reasonable.

I'm going to go for late August on this one as I'll be away for most of September.

While I was there, a full range of shower blocks, toilets and other facilities were about 80% completed. They should be done by August I should think.

SOOOOOO !! I'll be collecting names pretty soon as it will need to be booked in the next few weeks I think.

Im in, have a wedding at the end of august but its not far away, if it clashes i probably wont be camping but il definatly make an appearance. :mchappy:

Sorry for the poor language, i am still up for the meeting but it wont be on my trusty Super tenere, stacked it tonight in typical schoolboy fashion.. took my eyes off the prize as it were, on a familiar road, reasonable speed... not concentrating.. hopefully i will have another machine before the meet. W

Can't make 22/23 August - as it clashes with the West Wales bike show run by our local club. Other wise I'll be there!:scooter:

I have a new job which is shift work meaning I have no idea what my weekends off will be in the distant future...

Very very anoying and making things very hard to plan.

I will probably just give 2 weeks notice and just see who can turn up.... watch this space.

Im still up for a night or two under canvas, anyone else fancy it? Im thinking one of the sites where fires are permitted to help with the cold dark nights.

I've had 2 bikes in pieces, my partner in crime has been very ill and iv had to be all over the world for wedding after wedding and I still have more to come.. ahhh
