Bringing my 8 year old with me to the Hubb

Hi all

Just looked at the registration form and could not see anything that mention bringing kids? Since been born, William has done about 30,000 miles in our Land Rover camper and eaten camel burgers in the camping in the Sahara. Where I go, he comes with me. What is the situation regarding kids? Been on the Hubb for the last 13 years, but never yet made one of the events.

Cheers Mick

Mick,

On the main page is:
Children & Dogs

Horizons Unlimited is naturally keen to inspire the next generation of adventure travellers so you're welcome to bring your children along if you wish, but do bear in mind that the event is for adults (with adult themes and language) and we won't have any specific kids' activities. Children under 14 years old get in for free. Please note that the health and safety of your children is your responsibility and they must be supervised by you at all times. Children will not be allowed in any of the presentations from 8pm onwards each evening.

So if under 14 we don't need to know about them for registration at this time, BUT on the day YOU must sign a waiver for EVERY child.

Over 14 they're the same as everyone else.

Hope that helps!

Now that you are all booked up and planning to attend HUBBUK (you haven't yet?........then why not :thumbup1: ) why not consider extending your hard-earned break and coming over to the HU Ireland event taking place the following weekend in Enniskillen (24/26 June )

Details for the weekend can be found at:

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/events/ireland-2016

If you enjoy the HUBBUK meeting (and you will !) then you will certainly enjoy the Ireland meeting with the added bonus of having the opportunity to explore some of the great scenery and roads in Ireland. And need I mention the Irish hospitality, the "craic" and just perhaps, Guinness bier

Whichever HU event you choose to attend, where ever it may be in the world, you can be assured of a great weekend in the company of like-minded people.

Slainte from Ireland

No worries about the bike - we have people on Harleys and Gold Wings and R1's - off-road bikes not required at all!

We have always said that it's YOUR adventure - how you do it and what you ride - or drive - it doesn't matter, just get out and go.

well I'm also booked, so that's at least one Serow that'll be there!

Hi Guys n Gals,

it's possible that, depending on how the mechanical wizards in a certain motorcycle factory in Bolton get on, that I may not be arriving by Serow after all!

Time will tell.

Regards

Reggie

So that will be two GP450's there then, or perhaps more :thumbup1:

Mine is looking forward to the trip.

2 more wheels than before.

My first HUBB on four wheels, so the kettle should be on most of the time. Pop round for a cuppa. Lots more teabags in a Land Rover than the panniers of a GSA.

Grey and Yellow... Freddie.

Anyone riding to this from "Up North"?

Hi,

new to this site, HUBB, and adventure bikes. Very experienced biker but new to the world of adventure bikes/travel and keen to see what other people are up to.

Lots of dreams but no definite plans yet.

Looking to go to HUBBUK 2016 and looking for person/people to share the ride with. Live in North Yorkshire, on the edge of the North Yorks Moors, just south of Middlesbrough.

Current plan is that I will be working in Doncaster on Thursday16th June and then intend to head to Baskerville Hall as soon as I can get finished. Hopefully 4pm at latest. Heading home sometime on the Sunday 19th.

Riding style; Safe, enjoy making progress when roads/traffic/weather permit. I like to enjoy the journey, not just get there as fast as possible. Avoid dual carriageways/motorways whenever possible, happy to take the route less travelled. Would be keen to make a mini-adventure out of getting there/home.

Not sure if it's relevant but 51 year old married male.

Give me a shout if you also fancy some company for the trip. :mchappy:

Welcome to HU Mothy!

See you there, Grant

I'm leaving Market Drayton at about 1.30pm and am aiming to get there at about 4pm on Thursday. Taking the back roads through Shropshire and Herefordshire. Will be returning on teh long way home to ensure I don't get home too early and have to cut the grass.

Happy to go with company if your interested.

cheers

Dave

Whimp, Ya havn't lived untillya slid down a dirt track sideways on a road bike.
Why does everyone think that a road bike is for roads and only an adventure bike is for adventures. Sean did the Pan American on a 100cc Honda Cub. There are plenty of instances of like minded souls doing the same.
I have decided to do a "JoinTheDots" tour to all the places I've missed out on over the years. But not decided which bike to use. So will be discussing this over a glass of something at the HU. bier
Hope Ted is there to give us some advice.:thumbup1:
Look forward to meeting ya'all.

Day Visitors/Tickets

I'm hoping to come for 3 or 4 days. I have a friend who can only come for the Friday and Friday night, unfortunately has to leave on Sat morning. Do you have day visitor tickets or something similar that would facilitate this please?

Thanks.

Grant Johnson 12 May 2016 23:31

Hi Mothy,

We have a Weekend Pass only at currently £49 (59 on the day) for arrival after 7pm Friday.

Due to the difficulty/impossibility of ensuring someone actually leaves at the designated time, that's all we can do.

We also feel that someone who comes for only a day will NOT understand the event, and won't get the real benefit of the event, and may even think it's rubbish :). We don't have hundreds of vendors and a wall of death for entertainment, it's all about getting INSPIRED to go, and learning / getting INFORMED how to do it in the seminars, with a few good vendors who are focused on what WE all do - adventure travel. And of course one of the most important parts is CONNECTING with other travellers and getting inspired by them in casual chats by the fire or wherever.

I hope that works for your friend, and maybe he can rearrange his schedule, or at the very least book NEXT years date now: June 15-18, 2017!

All times are GMT +1. The time now is 01:43.
