London drinks - Thursday 31st August
Anyone up for few drinks on Thursday evening in Central London?
Suggest meeting at Cafe rouge, 34 Wellington Street - WC2E &BD (Covent garden), from 6pm onward to discuss trips, past and to come, and try to organise a weekend ride (if any interest!) later on the year. See you there, Maria |

Keep me informed guys if you intend to come so that I have an idea of numbers.
So far we are about 5 to 7 ! :D |
Sounds good, I could come down straight from work.
Covent Garden Eh! Sounds a bit posh and expensive for us bods from Sticksville, should I bring a flask or a stove? Cheers, Richard. :stupid: |
Hi all.
I'm new to all this stuff, I have'nt been anywhere interesting on my bike, and that bike is of the sports variety, BUT, plans are afoot to change all of that !. I should be able to pop in for a while during work, it would be interesting to meet you all. I'll keep an eye out to make sure it's on. Thanks Paul |
Hi Maria Just back in the Uk after traveling around the americas for the last 4 years, if i can get up to London it would be great to meet up Skip

I think a southern UK mini meet would be a very good idea, but we don't seem to be able to organise a piss up in a brewery. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to Covent Garden as I'm going to the AMR meet in Germany, and then the HU meeting in Belgium.
But if it's of any help I have been on a local reccie in Hampshire and found two excellent pubs with their own campsites. The Pub with no name at priors Dean has an excellent, inclosed, flat, camping field. With water supply and toilet. The food is excellent and it has a fine selection of real ale. The flower pots at Cheriton has B&B (£40 single, £65 double). Its own brewery and good food. Although the camping Field is rather sloping. I can supply waypoints and directions to get to either as I've personally tested both. Cheers Simon. |
You tricked me by moving forum! You can't shake me that easily. I'll be there around 6ish. Note to all: There is nowhere to park around that area. There is a bike bay near Aldwych that usually has one or two spaces and sometimes you can get a space just around the back of the Strand. I suggest to all that you leave your bikes at home unless you plan on arriving before 8am! If I get this job at MAG I applied for, I will certainly be pressing to convert more car parking spaces to bike bays. It's getting ridiculous now.

I've just spoken to David Lomax, who said he would be available to do talk's on the weekend of either 7-8 Oct or 14 -15 Oct if we could cover his travelling expenses. He would be happy to do talk Friday evening. Saturday afternoon and Saturday night.
But if we can get other speakers, he will be more than happy to stand aside and have a well earned rest. I shall leave this in your more than capable hands, and see Grant in Belgium to catch up with the latest. |
No bike parking nearby is a problem, as I don't like leaving my bike too far away in central london, so I'll pass on this one...maybe next time.

Parking
If memory serves, there is a reasonable size bike bay in the dead end part of russell street just off wellington st, and also in burleigh street which is barely a two minute walk away. Gaps tend to appear from about half six onward.
