Hi HUBBERS!
Well... it's time for another Scottish Campfire Mini Meet! :D This will be an opportunity to meet likeminded travellers around a campfire! WHEN... Friday 17th October - Sunday 19th October LOCATION & COSTS... Pillars of Hercules Camping (& Organic Farm). Falkland, Cupar, KY15 7AD. Website : Camping at the Pillars £7 per person per night with a motorbike OR £8 per person per night with a car. TO BOOK Please email the campsite with the following info... - Quote "HUBB MEET". - Number of people coming. - If you are coming by bike (£7pppn) or by car (£8pppn). - if your staying on Fri night only / Sat night only or BOTH nights. - And lastly please give them a contact telephone number. Pillars of Hercules email: bruce@pillars.co.uk The campsite has asked for everyone to book via email as it is easier for them to send you a online payment link and to deal with your request (as it is the cafe staff who also man the phone!). If anyone has any problems with booking then please let us know and we will do our best to help. ALSO... Please let us know that your coming along so we know who to look out for and remember that if you want to get set up in daylight then you'll want to be there by 6-6:30pm! OTHER FACILITIES... Pillars of Hercules Vegi Cafe : 10am-5pm. (They have very nice cakes!) The Pillars of Hercules Oranic, vegetarian cafe! Pillars of Hercules Farm shop :9-6pm Pillars of Hercules Shop, Everything you could possibly want and its organic! CAMPFIRE... If you have space then please bring a few logs for the fire or if not then a few pounds to buy some from the campsite shop. We will forage for wood but we will need some dry kindling & firewood to get the fire started on both nights! Looking forward to seeing some old faces and meeting new friends, Beej n Chris |

Yippee now that its officially an event means I can get excited about attending.
Think I will be in car but not sure, if so will be bringing wood. My plans are to go for a wee wander to the summit of West Lomond, 533m, if anyone wants to join me you are more than welcome. It wont be a fast walk more like a saunter. See you all there Liz & Mike |

steve172 - There won't be a guided run as such but Sean & Debs (who are local to the area), are going to make up self guided direction sheets for both a short and a full day run so that people can go off to explore the local area if they want to!

Chris and Beej - I had hoped to come to this meet up this year but have now got long lost family descending for that weekend so am unable to make it - (where would I rather be - certainly not here that's for sure - but family and commitments mean a brave face and a big smile (very difficult that one) Here is hoping they cancel for some reason - if they do then I will be coming but its not looking good. I will be there on the Friday earlyish in the day, Mike is having to work, so he will bring me down and abandon me. I am going to try some pole repairs to my old tent, if it works then it could be used as a shelter, will let you know how I get on with the repairs.

The best laid plans go awry, my holidays have been in for over a year now to get this date free.
Mike on the other hand who hardly ever works weekends has to work this one, he is NOT happy. I will be there on the Friday will stay overnight & join in the camp fire fun, but will have to go home on Saturday. Looking forward to a catch up & marshmallows if I remember to pack them. |

We're both really looking forward to chilling out at Pillars around the campfire tomorrow... our group of hubbers looks like... Beej n Chris, Jake (Seisbobs), Liz (Milimut1), Gary (Zimcruza), Andy & Maya (Freewheel) and Deb & Sean (Strompet). If anyone else is going to pop along then please let us know. :thumbup1: We have a mixed weather forecast (BBC Weather - Falkland), as can be expected for October in Scotland, with rain on Friday evening from 8 ish, a great sunny day on Saturday :Beach: and sadly some more rain on Sunday! But hey... we'll have a campfire so we'll be nice and toastie! We've packed some kindling and an ikea bag of wood to get the campfire started on Friday. If you have space then please bring a few logs for the fire or if not then a few pounds to buy some from the campsite. We will forage for wood but we will need some dry kindling & firewood to get the fire started on both nights! Remember that the daylight is going around 6-6:30pm at the moment incase you want to plan your arrival to get set up in daylight. Let us know what time to expect you and we'll try to have the kettle on! Beej n Chris P.S. Got marshmallows! :-) |

A big thank you to everyone who came along this weekend... it was great catching up with everyone around the campfire and I'm glad that everyones spirits weren't damped by the beginning of hurricane Gonzalo! zimcruza : sorry we missed you on Saturday. We were camped in the bankings field... which the cafe knew so not sure why they didn't tell you! Some folk were out on a run whilst others (ourselves included), were off for a walk and eating cake! Hope to see you at the next mini meet! GS-Jenny : great to meet you both over a cuppa in the morning... sorry to hear you only just found out about the meet but glad you popped into say hello! Great to catch up with everyone. Mike does not believe me when I told him I had no dealings with the camp fire. Tent drying in the bike shed That's the last of the camping for the year I have even started to put camping stuff away in the box :-( Thanks Beej n Chris for organising us to all get there even if you couldn't organise Mikes on call |
