Hey all - I tried to find someone who rents last summer, with no luck. Biking Viking told me that he told me it was not possible from any source he knew.
I'm heading there on my own beast summer 06. Mike |

Halldor, do you guys rent bikes out? I'm possibly going to Iceland in September and want to do a bit of sightseeing - but I don't really want to do any enduro or offroad riding
Also, if anyone has an online page translator link from Icelandic to English I'd be most grateful! |

Iceland Motorcycle Hire
Hi
i have had a look at the Iceland page and tried to contact the chaps at the Biking Viking site. Are they the only company now to hire motor bikes in Iceland we are looking at going in 2013. Has anyone had experiance of them. Cheers Ian |
Not been to Iceland, but on the wish list for 2013.
There is a Ride Report over on the UKGSer Forum: Iceland a video ride report - ::. UKGSer.com .:: There are three excellent short videos and I think the first one covers their (3 guys) arrival and collection of bikes from Biking Viking. I think they were happy enough with Biking Viking and found them very helpful, etc. The downside is that their insurance does not cover river crossings, so if you drown the bike, you could end up kissing goodbye to your €2000 deposit (or whatever value it is). Hi.
I've been to Iceland in 2010 and rented the bike with Biking Viking. No problem at all with them. The only thing they commented, more than once, was that the insurance didn't cover river crossing, nothing else. You can find details and pictures of that travel in the link below. It's in perfect spanish, but there is enclosed a traslator. Basauritik mundura... motorrez: 2010 - ISLANDIA en moto Regards. Angel. |
Anyone have recent experience of Biking Viking in Iceland
Hi,
I am considering booking a one-week trip with Biking Viking in Iceland next June. The price of 3100 Euros seems very high, particularly as there is a 2000 Euros bond against damage to the bike. Has anyone out there in the HUBB any recent experience of this company? It may just be that Iceland is expensive in general but if this trip does turn out to be unusually expensive I may consider ferrying my own XT660Z over via Denmark as I could then spend longer riding there. Any thought very welcome! Regards, stevearmstrongmatchless. |
The costs of car hire in Iceland has come down a lot lately, but the MC hire was very very expensive. Bikes go free from Denmark in 2013 at certain times.I am looking at ferrying the bike over and flying there.

Also, how does that work i.e. how is a bike shipped without the rider? (I read about this somewhere else but took it to mean that the bike would be accompanied on a ro-ro type of ferry). |

The link for the ferry is in the Iceland thread : Motorcycles go free to Iceland on Smyril ferries in summer 2013 |
Smyril it is then
