Bike Hire in Iceland
Does anybody know of any bike hire companies in Iceland?
I'm planning to do a quick trip next year and I want to make the most with 5-7 days riding around on their lovely dirty roads. BJ |

Cheers for that, but I've already e-mailed these guys and not had a reply yet. I'll try snail mail in a bit if I still don't get a reply.
Have you actually used these guys? Any other suggestions? |
No, I didn't
found it on google; motorbike rental iceland |

Yes - A 4WD. It is very cold and can be extremly windy (big sand-storms). Were it not for this a bike tour would be fantastic. Amazing landscape, great roads (and off-roads), and wonderfully friendly people. However vehicle hire is very expensive - not sure about bikes. |

Remember that the interior roads are only open from the end of june/beginning of july to the beginning of september. At this time the weather will be perfect for riding a bike with full gear (Gore-Tex ofcourse). It's in my opinion much worse to travell in +35 degrees. BTW I have no experience with renting a bike on Iceland. Why not just give them a ring? Have fun! [This message has been edited by spakur (edited 09 October 2003).] |
Hi,
try www.ktm.is (in Icelandic) e-mail: moto (-at-)ktm.is They had organized tours ads on their website until recently. [This message has been edited by Grant Johnson (edited 15 October 2003).] |
There is also a Honda dealer in Iceland http://www.honda.is/ perhaps they have something to rent (can't find anything on their website though, but try emailing them).
Good luck! |
Has anyone had any more progress since the last post. I've heard about the 'Iceland Overland' book which was recently published so I've ordered that for detailed info. But was wondering about ballpark figures for bike hire. Thanks in advance

Try re-posting in the Iceland Forum.I had the same question several months ago.

Post moved to Iceland Forum, - also, as noted, browse the rest of the Iceland forum for more info.
Let us know how you do! |
I managed to find somewhere else that does bike hire in Reykjavic. It's near the aiport and called x-tra http://www.xtrahlutir.is I managed to get a Fazer 600 for 4 days for 35000 Kronur, which leads me on to my next question. Do you think a Fazer will survive the roads in the interior?

Hi guys
I have had some questions from bikers about Biking Viking. It seams like Njall, the operator of Biking Viking, is having problems with his web-provider. At least used to have, earlier this summer. Everything is running smooth at the moment, so send him your questions on info@bikingviking.is now. Neither KTM or Honda rent bikes in Iceland. Biking Viking is the only company at the moment renting enduro oriented bikes to use in the interior. I would not take the Fazer 600 to the interior. It will be very good on the aspalt part of the road system, but since the interior is only gravel, and at some parts very rough gravel, I would only take a Paris-Dakar style of bike to the interior. I hope this helps you guys. Jakob |
I managed to get in touch with Njall from Biking Viking and he said they don't hire bikes anymore. Unless anyone knows of anywhere else I guess extra is the only place now.

I am waiting for the news too where can I hire a Enduro bike to run beautiful Ice Land
