50lbs. over GVWR on a 2up trip!!!
:clap:Going 2up with my girl for a 6 month SA trip on my 2005 KLR650 and the total weight (GVWR) is about 50lbs. over the 738lbs. recommended. I have upgrade suspension front and back, modified bolt on subframe as far as effect on weight mods. are consern. Should I make any adjustments? Mainly will go all paved roads or packed dirt trails. Should I be conserned at all?!
Thanks for any sugestions, Greg |
Greg, given the relatively low carrying capacities of bikes, and given the propensity of most westerners to overindulge their appetites for food and luggage I feel it would be most rare to find a rider/pillion team who is not exceeding their carrying capacity most of the time.
For the third world, the same situation applies only this time its because the bike is a primary means of transport and it is not unusual to carry either the whole family of 5 on a 125 tiddler, or to use it as a mobile delivery device with a consequent increase in the weight of the load carried. Personally, I wouldn't be too worried - you seem to have this issue under control. :) |
