couple klr questions
my 01 klr seems to run pretty hot. fan kicks on a lot when i'm going on trails or going slow. temp gauge sometimes reads very close to the H. is this normal?? any suggestions to help cool it down.
also what kinda miles do people usually get before switching to reserve. thanks, olee |
As far as running hot, my 91 KLR does not. Usually the fan only comes on after stopping or at idle in traffic. The guage usually only reads in the lower half. I've never seen it go anywhere near the hot side.
Around town I can get about 180 miles before switching to reserve. That's gets me about 48 mpg. Kurt |
Running hot can usually be traced to the pilot screw on the carb set to run too lean.
Kawasaki are well known for this.Easily sorted.Procedure is well documented on other forums. Bol |
as far as fuel ecconomy is concerned, i have found that if you drive fairly fast (ie 120km/h ish) but not illegal speeds you can get roughly 375/tank but if you drop your speed and do your best to keep it 80-90km/h, i have gone 525km before switching to reserve (even on gravelly roads), this is with the stock tank.
