FAIRING ON KLR

Hello all, I would appreciate any feedback on the feasibility of mounting a fork-mounted fairing like the Rifle sport on the klr. I realise I would probably have to use a low mount fender but would prefer the extra storage space and the larger coverage afforded by this fairing. Any info on how it might affect handling etc? Also considering going to a 19" front with a larger profile tire. How might that affect handling as well?

To tell you the truth, I'd be careful about mounting any more weight to the KLR. I've found the stock fairing to be pretty good. There are a couple of options as far as adding a bigger windshield though. Rifle for one makes a bigger one. I've found the stock setup pretty good, even on the interstate at high speeds (for the KLR anyway).

As far as the tire goes, I've ridden a BMW F650 with a smaller and wider front tire and found that with knobbies, this works against you both on the pavement and off. The front end seemed squirley even at low speeds.

A lot depends upon how you intend to ride your KLR. The stock setup seems to be a decent balance between on and off road. For pure offraod, though, I'd unload as much weight as possible.

Hey guys. I am looking at the rifle also. The stock buffets a lot, but my new full face helmet helps a lot. a fork mounted fairing will be tough to put on the klr, because of the design of the steering system. I have a full fairing for my old klr600 - but the problem is its spidered and it wont fit on the 650 and it creates a trap for nasty exhaust fumes. good luck.

we have a lot of talk about fairings plus a load of other stuffon the klr. its an active board, but sometimes rude and out of line. truly, this board is nicer.
