GPZ 500s
Good morning, I a wondering if anyone can reccomend 16 inch tyres for my GPZ500S, the choices seem limited, sizes are 90/90x16 front and 120/90x16 rear;both were H rated tyres. Most miles will on-road,so nothing special and usually I travel at steady speeds to see the view. Presently as bought it wears Metzeler ME33 front and ME77 rear,I was never fond of these on my previous bike and these are worn and hard. I did see some Heidenau East German tyres, and views on these ? Lastly I'm about to re-insure, what do people do when touring for more than a month ? Thanks:scooter:

Hi
Touring for more than a month???? Where are you starting from??? Where are you going??? Where is the bike insured??? These might help you get a good answer to your question as there are a multitude of possibilities for the answer. Cheers Wayne |

I'll be starting from UK to Spain and then wherever. Insurance wise I've been insuring in UK with Footman James in the past, they seem okay, just wondered if the best when away for longer periods,Thanks

I am with Carole Nash and they give me 30 to 40 days in Europe (can't remember exact days and not at home to look) at a time. If I need to go to Europe for longer then I will need to purchase a separate green card from them.
I would check with your insurance company 1 To see if they give you so many days included in you policy 2 Ask them what countries they cover you in, so you know if you have to buy insurance at some Borders 3 Ask them how much a green card is to cover your dates if you plan to be longer than your permitted allowance. You don't really have much choice with 16" rims do you. The only half decent one I'm aware of other than the two you mentioned is the Bridgestone G514 - here's a link I looked up -
Bridgestone G514 120/90-16 TT 63S M/C - moto-tyres.co.uk Re insurance, I've tended to stick with Carole Nash because they chuck in "free" Eurobreakdown and the couple of times I've needed more than a month in recent years they've been ok on doing it and ok on cost. |
Thanks,I've not looked in a while and since went back with Footman James only to find everything like breakdowns is extra under new regime so maybe C.Nash was the smart option:eek: Anyway it's now a group of us and only a couple of weeks so should be okay.
Tyre still to sort out,Thanks[/B] |
