Gpz500 engine in kle

Hi I have put a gpz 500 engine in my kle. I changed the fly wheel for the kle one. It didn't start so removed cover again and notice the stator had scored the flywheel. Why did this happen. Am I doing something wrong.

I believe the gpz500 flywheel cover is larger than the KLE one, which one did you use?

Apart from the camshaft the KLE and GPZ engines are the same.
