is my kle restricted ???
i have a 2005 reg (55) kle500 with just over 6500 miles of which i have put on approx 1200 miles in approx 8 weeks.
only just noticed on the logbook it states 33bhp !!! my previous bike was a vfr so i expect it to be much less gutsy but how will i know without major tinkering whether it is restricted ? it returns just over 60mpg on my daily 30 mile round trip to work and back , the majority on A roads at the speed limit and will cruise at 70 mph at 6000 revs. it probably seems as lively as it should be but i'm curious. any ideas ? i've heard and read a few negative comments on the kle but its a great tool. i cant fault the seat either !! maybe i carry my own padding :) |
Hi there.
It seems after a bit of research that your bike could be restricted in the carbs. It's the 25kw/33bhp restriction as opposed to the stock KLE of 33kw/47bhp. They use a different vacuum valve (diaframe) to achive the restriction. Just change that and I think you'lle be OK. Have a look at the KLE parts fiche, they list the 25kw vacuum valve as a option. The KLE is a very underated bike. It's not up there with Super10's, BM's and KTM's but its a great little bike. Very reliable:thumbup1: |
Remove the carbs and look down the rubber manifolds if its restricted there could be 2 large washers in them to reduce the manifold diameter
