Jack up kit
Hi,
Ive bought a Tail raiser kit for my KLE, Have any of you dudes fitted one?. Just looking for a bit of a run through of what I need to do. The new dogbones supplied are a little bit smaller then the originals, I was expecting them to be longer, or is this right?. Your thoughts Roy:helpsmilie: |
well I guess you are talking about the so called "linkage arm" right ?
don't know about the KLR, but my LR4 has a pro-lever-system the "dogbones" work like the following, and may help you to clarify the game with the length. now in spring time I fitted a riser kit to my LC4 Enduro the std. length is 127mm from aye to aye, for the pro-lever-system, the lowering kit for SuperMoto would be "longer" than Std., the riser linkage arms or "jack up kit" for long legs, tale guys and all Enduros has to be "shorter" to allow the rear fork to stay steeper which pushes the bike up, that's it :) The differers is only a few millimetre, like 4-5mm either way for the "dogbones" to rise or lower the bike some 2-1/2 to 3cm. In my case it's grate makes a big diff....... better cornering ability as well........ :) have fun spooky |
Roy,
Fitted some tail raisers a couple of weeks ago. Biggest problem for me was getting bottom bolt undone directly opposite exhaust. Just could not get leverage to undo. Resorted to laying bike on floor and nut came off easily. Stood bike up once nuts loosened, on centre stand, and then easy to change, just slide bolts out lifting swing arm to take pressure off bolts. Delayed fitting as unsure as what problems would be encountered but it is literally a 15 min job. If centre stand no jack required. Tail raisers were a similar length to original just holes were slightly closer (couple of mm). Does make big difference getting onto bike - definately higher (have suspension on max anyway). Now have more concerns about side stand, even less confident about the angle of lean. Risers do make a difference to handling and front end feels tighter. Not had the opportunity to see if i can get around light front end feeling though! :eek3: Neil |
Cheers for the info guys.
Im gonna try and fit them on Sunday, ive got my mate to give me a hand so I should manage it ok. Also gonna fit my stainless brake lines. Will let you know the outcome. Regards Roy:thumbup1: |
Fitted the jack up plates on Sunday.
Very happy, bike turns into corners a lot sharper then before. The bikes taller but I can still sit with feet flat on the floor. Cheers Roy:thumbup1: |

Side stand seems fine to me, I think it works better now.
