KLE 500 Top Box
Aye-up!
Hi all. I'm new here. I'm due to pick up an '05 KLE500 this Friday. It's in great nick and I'm looking forward to getting it, but it doesn't come with any luggage. I was wondering, can I get a top box that will attach directly onto the luggage rack that comes with the bike? Or will I have to shell out for a givi rack? Looking forward to plaguing you with many, many KLE related questions. TommyT |
Givi boxes work fine
Heya,
I've got an '07 KLE which i put a Givi box on (30ltr). The box comes with an adapter plate (i assume they all do?) which easily bolts onto the luggage plate on the back of the KLE, Let me know if any questions. Enjoy the bike:scooter: |
Also try KAPPA boxes, Just like givi but cheaper!.
the attachment plate bolts onto the kle rack. cheers roy:thumbup1: |
i must say where luggage is a concern if you are planning on doing a bit of the old touring game shell out and buy a full set of steel paniers! they are the job! ino they expensive but they are durable lightweight and are fantastic for touring (big capicity) ohhh and i think they look the bizz!

There's not a custom made luggage for KLE. You need to stick with the usual stuff; GIVI, KAPPA, H&B, etc. Shame on Kawa I would say.

Also, is there a compartment under the seat that would take a lock? Stupid question, I'm sure, but my F650 doesn't have any under seat storageā¦ Cheers. |
hi
i have a spada it is the same as the givi but a little cheaper as someone else said it came with a base plate that u have to screw to rack. i would set the base plate alittle bit back on the rack if u are takeing a passenger as it can be to far forward and stick in there back if you get some pannier racks you can fit boxs of your choice the size of top box is up to you mine will take my helmet and a few bit @bobs but if u go to a dealer and ask if u can place on bike and see if u think to big or small i did then u will get what suits u. hope this helps nmc:thumbup1: |
Hey,
The 30ltr box suits me. Good size for fitting your helmet and gloves in when you stop, or chucking the backpack in while you ride. Best to go with what robroymc suggested. Try a couple on at a bike shop. The 30ltr actually looked smaller on the bike than i thought it would, you could go bigger, but then you'll just try to carry more:thumbdown:. And, no, not really a space under seat for lock. You might be able to if you stored the tools somewhere else (like a bash plate mounteds toolbox). Not sure. Good luck |
Cheers lads.

On my KLE I have a 48 litres kappa case and it looks very good, I recommend it.
