KLE500 Screen

Hi All, Just got round to fitting my aftermarket screen to the front of my Kle 2006.

I bought the screen from Busters motorcycle accessories for £35. The only other one that I could find was an MRA version for £83!!!.
Anyway, Ive been having work done on my garage so the bikes have been stored at work for a couple of weeks and the screen still boxed up.

Fitted it yesterday and tested it out, Its 4inches taller then standard and is a double bouble shape screen. Its advertised as a flip in the catalog and when it came I thought they had sent me one for a sports bike??.

Anyway, Its bolted onto the original mountings and looks great, (charging my digi cam up so pics later).

It looks like an O.E.M screen, suits the bike. I took it out for a spin and did notice the difference right away, more wind protection being offered then before. The only downside I noticed was the screen vibrates a bit on tickover with being taller but under power I did not notice it.

Theres a little bit more wind noise then before but not enough to bother me (earpugs used anyway).

Overall a good buy, will be interested to see if it gives better rain protection as the standard one was weak in that area.

Pics posted later...

Which screen did you get? They only seem to do them through to 1996 model. Or is that the same one that will fit our bikes (2006). Looking forward to your pictures

I just got back from a weekend tour of air museums with my brother. He has a Honda NTV with a nice screen and was definately suffering less from wind buffet than me. But you are right the MRA screen is very expensive.

Still haven't tackled the seat problem yet. But after the long rides this weekend it is even more urgent.

Hi

First post here - seems like the place to be for the KLE... :thumbup1:

I bought mine 6 months old in Feb just gone - well pleased with it - I commute around Manchester UK with it and have tried a bit of "Green Laning" up round Saddleworth where I live and its all good so far. A big change from my previous Triumph Trophy though.

When I bought mine it came with a taller screen by PUIG - I think its supposed to be for a Z1000. The original was in the top box that the first owner had also fitted, I haven't tried switching it back to see any difference.

I've also fitted a scotty and daytona heated grips and SW Motech crash bars and I'm not even planning a round the world trip like you guys.

Cheers

Hi Paul,

Sorry not posted any pics yet, got side tracked. Was supposed to bring the KLE home from work today(had it stored there due to work on my garage) but it pissed down all day and I just could not be bothered.

I may try tomorrow, anyway I will post pics by friday at the latest.

Not sure on the make of the screen, In the new busters catalog its just listed under flip screens. It looks almost like the original but in size and has a double bouble effect. Looks great on the bike and does the job.

Will deffo get the pics up shortly.

KLE screen : Z1000's fits !

Hello guys,

I've bought the MRA "vario" one which is intended to fit the Z1000 and sold as a Kawasaki accessory, at least in France, but supposedly in Europe. It's OK, but expensive : 130€.

royzx7r 24 Jun 2007 09:55

I was close to getting one of those but I just could not bring myself to paying so much cash for it.

Does that little spoiler make any difference?

MRA Touring screen

1 Attachment(s)
Hello,

I wouldn't dare to say it's far better than a simple screen the same size. The cool thing is you can make it shorter or longer as needed. And maybe if you find the right adjustment, you can save some air noises.
Anyway, it looked cool on the catalog, and still so when on the bike.
My only disappointment was the plastic color : dark black, instead or smoked as I thought it would be. Maybe by buying it to MRA's instead of Kawasaki, one can get a smoked one :

As a user for several months willing to share experience, I have to say the spoiler system is perfect, moves easily but never by itself.
Here's a link where you can see the motion the spoiler can do (flash movie) :

Looked at Busters Motorcycle Accessories but couldnt find the screen by part number. Is the screen for a Z1000 or Z750. Been looking for ages for a new screen but didnt want to pay big bucks. thanks in advance.

Hi Ron,

The product code for the screen is FSK63DT and is listed for the 05-06 model.

Its only listed in the latest busters catalog (take11 -2007-2008)

If you ring them on 0871 91 92 900 Im sure they will sort you out. Im very pleased with mine.

nwil 26 May 2008 12:11

Hi Guys, I am now looking to replace screen on the bike and wondered if there is a consensus of opinion regarding a screen that works the best. Aware that individuals height makes a difference.
From what I have read the MRA adds a small amount of height to screen but primarily it has adjustable wind deflector.
The Puig screen and the one that Roy bought from busters adds height and therefore in theory removes some of the windage? Do the larger screen vibrate due to extra length and if so how much? Is the MRA as good as it is made out to be?
Trying to spend as little cash as possible but would like something effective, otherwise may as well keep the original. I have to say that I was impressed by the look of Roys screen.
Look forward to your replies.

ps anyone know of a full screen to cover bike...with the winds we have been having in UK for the last few days need some protection...Oh forgot..Its called a car!!

Hey!!!

I bought an Eagle Screen extended touring model for my KLE and couldn't be happier with it. The service was terrific and the postage very quick. They are in WA.

Here are some pics of my bike with the screen:

Hey Will, the screen looks great!
Two questions
1) how much did it cost? and
2) what tyre do you have on the back?
Cheers,
Aaron

munecito 21 Jun 2008 05:03

Hello.

The screen was about Au$165.

The rear tyre in that picture is a Pirelli Scorpion MT90. I highly recommend that tyre. I bought a set 10.000Kms ago and they still have about 4-6000 Kms left. they stick very well in the wet and dry and I feel more confident leaning the bike (forget the chicken strips in that picture it is very old).

I have been off the bitumen once and the tyres were good enough as dual purpose tyres.

G'day,

Been reading through these p[ost's for a few days now and thought I'd post.

I have the same screen as munecito and I can highly recomend them. They look great and work a treat. Mine was on the bike when I bought it but when it comes time to replace it, it will definatley be an Eaglescreen.

I tried to post some pics but I couldn't get them smaller without ruining the quality.

Very nice screen, I'm lookin at them at the moment but being 6'3" I'm not sure if their worth it:confused1: Nothin like wind and bugs in ya face:mchappy:
Any help on this would be great?c?

poppykle 23 Jul 2008 12:11

Keater, I have an Eagle screen, same as Will's. I'm a bit shorter than you (5'10") and I still get the occasional bug in face but nothing like the original screen. Where I do notice the difference is at speed or in the rain, the screen will keep the wind or of your chest, you don't feel like a sail hanging onto the bars and it keeps the rain off your body. No regrets at all.
