KLR650 progressive rear shock blown (in Bolivia)
Hi!
It is the second time. The first time we broke down in Colombia and imported a Progressive rear shock for around 700USD from the US. Now I am frustrated as the new one in Argentina cost 1000 USD. Do you know how to repair a progressive rear shock? Is it possible? I know it is possible with a standard factory rear shock. Please let me know, as it could save me hundreds of dollars that I would need to borrow.... I am heading towards Argentina, next bigger city: Salta. Cheers Michal |
what is broken exactly? Just the spring or the damper/piston? Springs should not be repaired in my opinion, but new ones can be obtained for around 100-150 euros.
The damper/piston can usually be services/repaired by an expert, but I guess it depends how bad it is damaged. Not all factory shocks are serviceable or repairable, but most aftermarket shocks are. What brand did you get? |
It is progressive suspension shock. The oil from the piston leaked out. Now I am in Mendoza (Argentina) and will try to get a second hand one or try to repair this one, but even if the mechanic is great he will need some parts. This can be a problem...
