Is there a bash plate tool kit holder for the KLR650?
I was talking to someone at the weekend at the Ace Cafe (Famous London Biker Cafe from the 50's, that's been reopened) and they were telling me that there is a company making a oil sump bash plates, which ingeniously also holds most your tools too, keeping all that weight low down.
Has anyone heard of this and or know where I can buy one? You might like this Ace Cafe link too: http://www.ace-cafe-london.com/f1.htm |
I think overlandsolutions do these (see link at the top of the page)

Thanks, for any one else who's interested, here's a picture:

A cheap and easy solution is a piece of 3" diameter ABS sewage pipe. Use ABS cement to glue a cap at one end. At the other end goes a threaded connector and a screw-on cap. Then fasten up to the bike with those circular clamps you tighten with a screwdriver.
Lots of KLRistas do this. Here's a pic of mine. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a27...antiago140.jpg |
Here's mine.
The top one has nonskid tape around the ends for road pegs. It holds propstick and long tools. Keeps the shrouds safe in a tipover too. The bottom one holds spare tube and a bottle of dishwashin slickum for tire changin duties. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/zrod73...5e.jpg&.src=ph This small one on the Port side holds tire irons and a patch kit. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/zrod73...37.jpg&.src=ph Here's my 12v aircompressor still in the case, under the starboard shroud. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/zrod73...d2.jpg&.src=ph Rod |
