Your favourite KLE pics
1 Attachment(s)
Just a thought and hope I'm not breaking any forum rules but I thought it would be a great idea to post a favourite pic of your KLE so some newer members can see some of the set-ups on other KLE's in this forum?
Here is one of my 2007 KLE in Kosciuszko National Park late last year. |

Hi ShaunJ.
I particularly enjoyed your first photo. Having done some racing in a Lotus 7 replica (Caterham series in the UK), I can appreciate that photo. I have had the opportunity to take my KLE on the track once, and throroughly enjoyed myself. |

Love that first one!

Hey Seriesboy, nice touring setup you have there. What brand of aftermarket centrestand are you using?
Cheers JQ |
Hey John,
The centre stand (and the engine bars) are from SW Motech. Very solid all round. Regards, Alan. |
Hi all.
It's been a while since posted here - and I'm not too sure if others will be able to see this picture I'm posting. If you cant see it, let me know. http://www.kawariders.com.au/attachm...chmentid=12185 I recently spent 3 weeks riding on my own through south eastern Australia and over to Tasmania. The KLE was my 'home'. It never missed a beat and I did over 5,000 klms all up. It is the perfect lightweight touring machine, in my opinion. |
That's a nicely loaded up KLE Lone Star. I noticed you have an aftermarket screen. Is the protection it offers any more effective than the stock screen?
Great photo. JQ |

Thanks John - yep, she was loaded up all right. Surprisingly, made riding more comfortable though. I had the tent packed and sitting against my lower back and the tank bag near my lower chest meant that I was wedged in while riding.
http://www.kawariders.com.au/attachm...chmentid=12211 Obviously, she wasnt as 'flickable' around the corners as normal because of the extra weight but I had no complaints. Attachment 3739 Nice and clean here, day one of the trip. |

I have a 'PowerBronze' screen, imported from U.K. I think it was about $165 delivered. High strength & super clear, it seemed better than the others I had seen. It is about half as high again as the standard one, a little bit wider and slightly dished to throw the air up over the helmet. I rode the same bit of highway on the same day with both screens and there is a definate advantage with the new one; I pretty much have a 'dead air' zone from shoulder to shoulder and up to the top of the visor. I've seen bugs happily buzzing around behind the screen while I'm at speed on the highway... Plus I liked that my vision is still well over the top of the screen, not through it. Do you ever come down south riding John? |
Nice one of mine in Wales.

Here is mine. |
Just bought mine which is now being stored until I pass my test. My present bike is a YBR125, which I have toured about on and enjoyed, but a bit more power and height will make life better.

Too bad Kawasaki never brought those into North America: I owned an EX-500 for four years and thought it was a great bike. I think a KLR would be a terrific bike, but of course it won't sell in the American "bigger is better" market.

On a recent tour in Scotland. I pack lightly compared to you guys!

My old KLE500
3 Attachment(s)
This is my old KLE500 (2005 reg), used it mainly for 62mile commute in all but the snow. Looking back, one of the most fun bikes I've ever had. Fitted with heated grips, stainless steel rear jack up kit (improved handling) and road tyres BT45's.
Riding a Buell nowadays but will get a KLE again one day. Cheers, Richard. |
Just added a 1994 KLE500 to my collection [the '87 KLR650 will be sold off].
http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/z...sthefleet6.jpg Out on my first dirt ride with it. http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/z...afterrego6.jpg A regular picture stop on all my bikes. http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/z...fterrego15.jpg Over the weekend I managed to get my hands on a set of stainless steel throw over bag frames, a decent alloy bash plate and a Staintune muffler. I fitted the frames and bash plate, the muffler will wait for another weekend work effort. http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/z...atefitted2.jpg More dirt oriented tyres, a better rear shock, a slight lift and a high front mudguard are on the list of coming upgrades. ?c? |

Been camping last 2 days, was planing a bit more but my tent failed so i have to quit a but sooner than planed. Here is a picture of my bike on top of the Slovenian highest going road at 2072m above sea level.

Love this thread will post some piccies of mine when the Exhaust is done !!!

After two hard winters the bike needed a bit of work. So it has had a major service and a bit of a smarten. The transfers have been removed leaving just the Kawasaki one. The bash plate, rear foot guard hangers and the swingarm have been powder coated (the swing arm was supposed to stay black but it came back silver). The front forks have been painted black, as has the exhaust, wheels and the bronze engine cover.
