690 enduro 2014 wings & map?
i have a 690 enduro 2014 on order for the beginning of march, i have traded my smcr 2012 in for it and i have kept the wings end can so im wondering if it will be suitable for the new enduro with it having the different throttle system???
and also is there a map available as there is only the 1 ecu now and not 2 so i presume the maps will be different??? i have checked the part numbers on both bikes for the original standard can and they are different (i thought that if they was the same then the wings would be ok as there would be no difference in the original ones) also when i had the wings on the smcr after a few thousand miles it randomly broke down and it was running like crap limping home and blew the throttle body off which caused the tps sensor to hit the frame therefore needing a new tps sensor, ktm fixed it under warranty but advised me to remove the wings as it was too free flowing running it with out any inserts causing the bike to back fire. i contacted Gorazd Marovic at wings a few month ago and put this to him, he asked me to wait a few days so they could give me a proper answer but that was the last i herd!!! cheers |

Judging from what I have read about the 2012 and 2013 690 Duke (which has the same 100% fly by wire throttle, twin spark, and single ECU as the 2014 690 Enduro is getting), TuneECU does not (yet) work with this new setup. This just means you will have to rely on a KTM dealer to do your map change until someone figures out how to get TuneECU to talk to the new 2014 690 Enduro setup.

What benefits do you want from the exhaust? more power, economy or noise?
The standard ECU is restricted by emissions controls. Tune ECU piggybacks on the standard ECU. I have a 2013 690 SMC R with a Vortex on it. One Vortex replaces 2 KTM ecus. Much more power and torque, mpg goes down a bit but the bike is transformed. I use only 3 of 10 available maps: Power, torque and economy. Dirt Bike Racing | Motor Bike Engine Accessories | Vortex CDI Instant throttle response. No sudden scary unwanted acceleration in heavy traffic. Dynos of std vs Vortex - Full Akrapovic and K&N Filter: hp: 61 -> 64, Torque 50 -> 53. Checkout Vortex ECU on Supermotojunkie.com https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%208%20443.pdf |

TuneECU is free as are the maps but you will have to buy some decent (lonlec) cable and adapter. But as mentioned above TuneECU will not talk to the '14 so no use to the op. I'm not even sure the dealers have a Akra map available for the twin spark 690. If they do then get the dealer to load it on the bike - but you must make changes to the air box lid. There's a huge amount of info and advice on advrider for the 690 :thumbup1: |
i had the bikes first service done yesterday so i fitted the open air box lid with the wings end can earlier and the bike sounds nothing like my 12 smcr did with the exact same can on, i know it now has a slightly different engine to the previous years like ride by wire, different fuelling, ecu, twin spark etc so yes it wont sound exactly like my old bike but it did not sound right at all, just a mono tone sound like theres no end can on at all.
Also it lost quite a bit of noticeable power so obviously something is not right, i did the 15min idle after doing the mods. Searching for a Akro tomorrow but as of yet i cant find 1 listed for a 2014 Quote:

From what i can gather looking through advrider everyone is just doing the 15min idle and then your good to go, obviously not in my case :( |
