Fatigue reduction on 640ad:- Footpegs
Does anyone know if aftermarket foot pegs are available for a 2003 KTM 640 adventure. I am looking for pegs that are longer & wider than standard & also have rubber pads to minimise the vibrations. I have perused the net without success.
Thanks in advance. Simon |
The original pegs came out of the factory with rubber pads, have yours been removed? Any KTM dealer should be able to get you some, they're shared with the 990 Adv and Supermoto (if not others).

KTM do aftermarket rally pegs, which fit the adventure and make a significant difference if you stand on the pegs. I have fitted them to my 00 Adv and am happy with the result, although it did require changing the bracket for the left footpeg.
These are slightly longer and wider than the stock part, although you could make the same by welding on some more metal around the existing footpeg. I don't believe they come with the rubber insert. |

The original pegs I have still have the rubber pads however I would prefer much larger pegs. As I’m only 5 weeks from departure & “way above budget” I think I will opt for the welding solution as opposed to spending more of my hard earned with KTM. Thanks for the advice, greatly appreciated. Im not sure where your trip will take you, but if you plan on doing any significant off road, I would suggest you take off the rubber inserts. Although they may give a little bit of vibration relief on the tarmac, as soon as you are anywhere remotely muddy / sandy, the rubber insert becomes a liability as it will reduce your grip on the pegs. I threw mine away after slipping of the pegs several times during an african rainy season, and was very pleased I did! |
Made these this afternoon..... http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/e.../F650GS015.jpg
Took about an hour and cost about 2 beers, for my wifes 650GS but the principle would be the same on any bike. Pete |
