KTM front brake squeal
Just got my AdventureR, LOVE it. But after
60 miles the front brake works from higher speeds but then just squeals/groans for the last few yards and you can feel the viabration through the bars. Its a big bike (and rider) so are AdventureR's prone to glazing/cooking their pads with hard(ish) road use? |
Hi wastegate,
you can override this (little) problem by making some cuts wit a thin saw in the brake pads. Soft pads helps too! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif)) By Pietro ------------------ Pietro Tosetti (KTM EGS 640 Adventure R 2000 "Drago") & Patrizia Coari (Honda Dominator 650 "Brontolo") Milano - GFC 23 & 24 - EChM 499 http://www.pitpat.it A volte un atteggiamento rigido e' conseguenza di una paralisi. |
Cheers badwolf, but what pads? Hard catalogue
lists Ferodo ID450, Texstart 4069GF, Toshiba (I thought they made TV's !) H38 and TT2701. Any suggestions? |
Hi Wastegate,
I'm using Brembo D450FF. This is a common problem with many KTM's, my last Duke II also had the same...
Copperslip did not work, and BMW brake paste did until the next large rainfall. I have heard from many sources that it is the pads... Regards JT |
No worries -- easy to fix. EBC Kevlar pads (set no FA 208) do the trick...
Toss the old ones (don't waste time filing and cutting and wotnot -- save yourself the bother). |
