KTM replacement????
How about these gents?
More power, better spec, 30kg lighter.... If the reliability is there who'll be riding a KTM this time next year? http://www.highland-motorcycles.co.u...gallery16.html Dave [This message has been edited by davidlomax (edited 30 January 2006).] |
Looks good however I can't seem to see a price anywhere.

85 BHP at 6,000 rpm out of 650cc? doesn't necessessarily produce the reliability required for distance travel. I prefer a less highly tuned lump, more likely to cope with poor petrol, less stressed etc. The KTM service intervals are close enough anyway (3,000 miles?)

It's a 950, not a 650, so 85 hp isn't too impressive (unless it's made by Harley-Davidson our "very special" motor company!).
Looks good to me, Nate |
Oooops! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/redface.gif

Then again, what's with that pipe under the swingarm? Looks pretty smashable.
Does an LC8 really have less than 85 h.p.? I got a chance to ride a fairly stock 2005 model recently and I would have guessed it had more than that. Nate |
The KTM LC8 has 98 bhp, well, the first non-injected ones did, I guess the latest injected ones have at least that. I used to have an LC8 - a very early one, but had such problems with it (head gasket blew twice etc), that I wouldn't touch another KTM in any shape or form.

I was looking at the Highland a bit too. As far as I've read, this is quite a buzzer in the sense of VIBRATION in the Folan engine. Also, there has been reports of it being quite on-and-off on the throttle - either full gaz or nothing at all. A hard core super enduro/supersupermotard - not an overlander, IMHO. A great wheelie machine, though...
