Stripped Down Adventure or Adventurised LC4?
Problem: Whilst my Adventure's great in the desert, I find it's bulk and to a lesser degree weight a bit much off-road in the more technical European going. So the choice is to fit a small LC4 tank/headlight/Touratech Rallye bracket to the Adventure or buy a standard LC4 enduro and fit an Adventure tank/fairing etc. when overlanding. I recognise the bikes are different in other areas but has anyone any experience in either of these conversions, especially the time taken and is it easily reversible?

Don't quote me on this one Ian, but before I was 'aware' I wanted to take my Duke II on an overland journey - Bracken (London Garage http://www.bracken.co.uk) I believe said that, amongst others, you could not enlarge the tank (standard 11 or 13 ltrs???) - and I believe the duke tank is the same as the Enduro.
I agree - The Adventurer is not what I would call an 'Off-Road' bike - please don't misunderstand - but the reason it's great for desert & dirt roads is the long wheelbase (and weight to some extent). For tight corners - the power & wheelbase make it less responsive but possibly too powerful for turns etc... But for general overlanding - dirt or tarmac roads - it's great... The other choice it to get up on those pegs and just tank it... Gung Ho and over the top and all that... Ride Safe James |
Re: Fuel tanks I believe the 18 litre one will fit a Duke (it's advertised that it will) and the 28 (or is it 30?) litre tank will fit an LC4 Enduro (post 97 and probably earlier) but you need a different seat.
