Iveco 4X4 Starter motor
 

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone have tips for accessing the starter motor on a 40:10. Mine's refusing to start at the moment; relay in the fuse panel is clicking but nothing else. If I could get at it I'd maybe try shorting out the solenoid but it's well tucked in. Started from cold in snow and ice today, ran like a dream while I towed out a couple of stuck cars. Parked back in the driveway and now won't turn over at all! Any suggestions most welcome.

Check the tightness on the cable connections form battery to relay to solenoid, also ground cable. Also once those are tight make sure battery is good by trying to start with headlights on. Lights should stay bright with start attempt.
Statistically, electrical failure is much more likely than starter failure.

I have never done this job but if I am stuck I go to my local Iveco dealer and ask one of the mechanics for advice. They are always helpful.

Thanks Charlie - will check when the snow has gone! Graeme, my local Iveco dealer is crap never seen a 40:10 until I took mine in then couldn't fix dash warning lights [ now fixed by local auto electric firm ] best wishes Trevor

I had the same problem. Guilty thing was bad wire connection, running from ignition key (right under the steering wheel). Just cut off connectors and solder wires together.

Done it many times, I found the secret was to drop the exhaust first sounds mad but gives you space and allows you to drop it out
