overlanding in a shogun
HI
At the beging of 2011 me my wife and kids are setting off on a overlanding trip from southafrica to kenya and back down to namibia I have a mitsubishi shogun 2.8 TD LWB as this is the car i have and i know my way around the engine this is what were using, I've started to do the mods to it, i've fitted OME shocks and springs not sure if i should change the front torsions bars, fitted a duel batt systeam, roller draws ect. So heres my question dose anyone for see any problems with the truck apart from the lack of axle movment. I will be going of road but nothing to exstream as the kid will be there. |
it will be fine, people travel in old bangers, 2wd cars, etc. If you've got it in good condition, will be great. Have fun.

My daily driver is an '07 SWB shogun "4work" (has no seats or windows in the back), 3.2 diesel.
For an everyday car, it's great. off road not as good as a landrover (for example), but if you're just doing an overland trip, i'd assume you're not really going to be testing your off road ability to the limits (as in a pay & play site), but more likely wanting 4x4 for sand/gravel tracks, with the odd washed out hole thrown in? I'd say the shogun would be ideal for this, plus it'll be a lot quicker and quieter than a LR, and won't let the dust in :thumbup1::thumbup1: Although I love my LR's, the shogun is still nice :cool4: |
