Series 80 4.2d Tyre Choice for Cape Town
 

Hello, I have a 1993 series 80 4.2td fitted with aly rims 8JJ x 16 what would be the best tyre choice for an overland trip to Cape Town via the East coast.

Hi, my LC had 2 new BF Goodrich ATs which made it all the way, but then again so did the 2 Korean ones I had to put on in Libya....

Plenty on the internet ... the Overlanders favorite is the BF Goodrich ATs as mentioned....
if you are not overly worried about the detailed specs of each tyre / size then a 235/85 R16 would suit you nicely... (aprox £125 each)
Be careful though, once you start reading all the specs and recommendations you might start dreaming of Michelin XZL 255/100's on split rims, suspension lifts, spacers, body work modifications, ... LOL

Thanks Lucie & Matt, I have decided to go for 285/7/R16S BFG KM2 tyres as they are designed for all surfaces & have had a 33% increase in sidewall strentgh.
