motorcycle donation
Hi Folks,
I am currently doing remote volunteering for VSO, and plan to ride a YBR125 from cape town to Lira in Uganda where we have a project, an agricultural college. Once i arrive i wish to donate the bike to the college to carry out outreach work to previously trained students. As a charity VSO/C&D (Their Italian partners) are import tax exempt, but how do i avoid getting stung for import tax as the Carnet de Passage will show the bike never left Uganda. The bike only cost me £650, so the tax may be cheaper than the admin costs to avoid it. I cant be the first to do this, anyone got any experience to share. any help appreciated. Not going until next spring. cheers Ian:mchappy: |
Ok. obviously too hard, lets try another tack.
If the charity buys the bike from me, it is a permanent import, and they can get import tax relief on that. Would i need to have a carnet de passage, as effectively i am the delivery agent, albeit taking the long way and thus it isnt a temporary import? |
