Riders for Health
Hi All,
I was watching tv last night and there was a doco on about this organisation, which I had never heard of before. It mainly dealt with providing transport for health workers, including motorbike riding and maintenance training. It seems like the perfect way for an overlanding biker to lend a hand and do something useful. Has anyone done this, or have any experience with these people? Obviously cash donations are always welcome, but it would be nice to do something practical as well. Cheers, Nick |
Riders for Health is the "official HU charity" http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif
We do 50-50 draws or raffles at our Travellers Meetings, and the proceeds all go to Riders for Health. Last year we raised almost US$900, and hope to make it much more this year. I am joining a group of like mined souls this year to purchase bikes and raise funds for education of the maintainance team in Africa.
The charity has given us the opportunity to buy a bike and ride it through various parts of the Eastern Cape, leaving the bike to the health workers out there so they may continue their much needed work. Sponsorship gladly accepted as it is a fantastic charity. E-mail me to get a sponsorship form or address to post a donation. |
