60 $ insurance for Syria ?!
I heard Syria request 60$ for an insurance.
Do anybody know, if it's true or if there is another way. Regards Knut |
I paid 30 USD for a bike (10 days) some weeks ago, and another 10 USD for roadtax.
Didn't like it so I went directly to Turkey the same day. |
I paid 29 $ for insurance and 10 $ for the custom, both with an official bill. But I think, they do the price if they want.

Hey it may sound expensive but Syria is definately worth the money!!!
Make sure you visit Palmyra, Krak de Chevalier and one or two of the other castles and Damascus is also a nice city and you should find that the Syrians are very friendly. Happy travels ------------------ ChrisC |

See if you can get an 'Orange Card'. When I went to Syria and Jordan in 2000, I got one of these through the Automobile & Touring Club for the UAE and it cost me AED 275.00 (USD 75.00) for a month for third party cover for Jordan and Syria (plus a few other places as well I believe). They accepted it without question at both the Jordanian and Syrian borders.
One tip for the Syrian border - take plenty of small denomination Syrian Pounds - remarkably enough they never have any change! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif ------------------ Jon Harbour Middle East 4x4 |
