Camping place in Jordania and Syria ?
Hello,
I would like to know if some of you knows camping place in (or near): - Maan, Jordania - Amman, Jordania - Damas, Syria - Palmyre, Syria - Alep, Syria Any help would be really appreciated, it's not that easy to find camping place in these areas... aurel :mchappy: |
There's a fab place in Palmyra, just aside the ruins. Very cheap too.
The view from our tent in Palmyra :) http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...ast/img333.jpg Amman, Damascus & Aleppo all are big busy cities and you won't find any camping there (or if you find one, then very far downtown). But there are LOADS of cheap hotels that can organize safe parking for your moto. We found Aleppo super nice city - certainly worth looking around a day or two. Damascus is nice too, but Amman was a bit too modern and thus a bit boring for us. Happy Middle-Eastern travels, Margus |
I'm sorry Margus but my english is not that good... why do you mean by "fab place" ? :helpsmilie:
|
Fab = fabulous = nice, super etc positively minded stuff :)
Cheers, Margus |
Of course... I should think twice before asking stupid questions :D
Thanks for all your advices, it helps a lot ;) Regards aurel |

We are on Middle East trip later on this year(september),so we have a good recomendations for a hotel with camping facilities very close to Amman, chip and clean-www.olivebranch.com.jo Please,if you decide to use it,let we see your opinion here. Regards, Simon |
hello
we have been there on that campsite (hotel) last year. It was really expensive and we were not allowed, because there were a lot of guests in the hotel and the owner didn't want that they looked out over us. They didn't want that the guests saw us. So it is not that great!!! |

you can always try...maybe they let you in this time.......we were there when there was the jerash festival. so maybe it was because of that. and when you are not with a lot of people (we were with 2 adults and 3 children) it is maybe not so pricy.
there is a good campsite 20 - 40 km west from allepo to, near the border of turkey. A belgium women runs it with a syrian man. there is a monastry 40 km north of damascus where you can have a room for free (they ask only for a tip). it is monastry St. Thekla. it is really nice there. don't come there too late because then there is a chance that it is full. go there!!!! |
Thanks for your advices :thumbup1:

Hi,
That's a good link Brend, I've bookmarked it. By the way, didn't you receive my email? I've sent you one. How about camping in the open by the way in Syria/Jordan? Would be nice too if you're self supporting with water and cooking stuff. Are others travelling this summer too? Jurgen |

Ride safe, Margus |
Dear Margus, true may be, but finding yourself a place in the open is a nice thing in itself. It's not because it's cheap, but it's the atmosphere.
Seeing the sun set, cooking your own food and eat it in total quietness, sleeping under the stars, spotting desert foxes and so on :) BTW As vegetarians we don't eat Kebab :) Jurgen |

PS: many places, if not the most, have a menu for vegetarians, too :) Regards, Margus |
