Thanks ın advance guys C u on the road ! |
When I rode Syria and Jordan in 2008 NO carnet required.
I think it's still like this, anyway. |
you dont need a carnet for either, I went through earlier in the year.
I do have one and used it, but it caused more confusion than anything else. Trucks use them all the time there, but they use back to front Arabic ones, and the guys on duty in Syria really had a hard time sorting mine out. If you dont have one you just pay something like a 50 dollar entry tax, may even have been 25 - I was tempted just to pay that and be on my way. |
Carnet
Hi Alcasi,
I went through the Turkey / Syria / Jordan loop a few weeks ago and you don't specifically need a Carnet, as the other fellows mentioned you instead pay an additional entry tax. A friend traveling at the same time with no carnet paid a heap more in taxes though ( he was from the US ) than the cost of the Carnet, this may very where you cross but I'd suggest not, a tax is a tax etc. The carnets I saw looked the same as mine, so the paperwork may have become standardised too. So yes you can but it might be more expensive. Cheers and enjoy, it was a great leg of the trip. Bergrider. |
I think its 100usd import tax to syria, w/o a carnet.
Im not 100% tho, as I didnt get in, couldnt get a visa at the border crossing I was at. Use the Killis TR crossing, a border visa seems to be no problem there, but at the smaller borders to the east, it wasnt possible Doug |
the border crossing at gazientep (sorry if miss-pelt ) is good, no visa required prior to border, issued whilst you wait. and all formalities are reasonably fluid, just remember to take us dollars as you will need that as currency as no bank or money exchange at border, i got lucky and some guys from iraq helped me out money wise( at there expense):oops2:
