Dubai info needed....
Hi, I will be going to Dubai , arriving Oct 20. i just wanted to know where a good place to rent a motorcycle for a few days. What would you suggest for day rides ? My girlfriend is attending a dental conference and wants me around for dinner etc so an eight hour riding day would be ok... any info would be great. I'm staying at the Al QSAR.
If by chance you know of some good local resto's or anything really special that would be good to see or do pls. don't hesitate to let me know.... and if you want to hook up for a ride with a Cdn. that would be great too.... Looking forward to your replies.... Howard :scooter: |

First of all, no need to double-post! We’re very thorough round here… :) Bike rental is not a big market here. See this thread for your basic options and also the possibly required documentation. Number 1 day ride is definitely Dubai to Hatta Fort Hotel for breakfast buffet (65 dirhams) then go left at the hotel roundabout, and first left again, for a twisty road through the mountains to the mangroves at Kalba. Coming back would depend on how long you want to ride. Another possibility is to visit the car museum (N24 05.946 E54 25.029 - free entry) past Abu Dhabi – home of the largest car in the world. Not a very interesting road though; there’s a lack of those in the UAE. The Irish Village is a very popular restaurant at this time of year as you can sit outside and enjoy the cooler weather. Give me a call when you’re here and we can meet up for a hop-based beverage. Stephan |
Hi stephan,
Thanks for the info. I am going to see about renting once i arrive at the hotel. Maybe the hotel conceirge can set me up with something local. I want to do that ride to the Hatta Fort hotel (prolly stop for lunch) then head to Kalba. I never saw mangroves before so i guess now is the time. :) I will drop you a line once i get to Dubai and YES would love to hook up at the irish village if your around. Can't wait to get there, its been on my list of international cities that i wanted to visit for a long time. Cheers! Howard |

If you make it to the HFH before 11 a.m. on the weekend you can still get the breakfast buffet but I presume lunch is fine too. See you soon, Howard; Dubai is quite nice for a short visit in the right season. BTW if you're staying at Al Qasr, Medinat Jumeirah, you're in a very nice p(a)lace. :thumbup1: Stephan |

Stephano, when was the last time you managed to get into the Rainbow Shieks Museum, every time I come back from Liwa or Humeem I try but it is always closed. I`m sure its well worth the visit if its open. |

I think, as it's a private collection, it's often 'closed'. It's worth driving in and finding someone who works there. With a little friendly chat, they'll more than likely open the hangar for you. I went down with Peter & Lars early in 2007 and that was our experience on 2 separate days if I recall and it's been the same for others. IF Dubai Harley dont have one, Abu Dhabi sure will. SJ |
