Entering Syria and Joran with diesel
Hi, I heard about the Syrian diesel tax of 100$ per week and a 'nice' solution of telling at the border you drive on petrol. Did anyone do this trick at the border with or without success? I heard about one success story, but I can't imagine they don't look at the car papers to see if it's a diesel or not (or just listen or smell).
Further, is there still no way of getting into Lebanon with a diesel, can one apply the same trick I described above? Regards, Jurgen |
I heard about someone who did the trick No. 1, then he was denied entry back to Syria from Jordan. I heard about someone who did the trick No. 2 and spent a week in Lebanon. The second time he tried to do the trick he was discovered and was told a story about somebody else who nearly got the car confiscated and only got it back after painful negotiations and some support from the embassy. Yes, it can be done.

Sounds promising :)
You heard about it, or you spoke to these people yourself? Thanks, Jurgen |
